  1. Service Center Kinda Sucks?

The math word problem here boggles my urban brain. So a normal driving car (with no speed limit) takes 1.5 hours to get to/from the service center. Your car was limited to 13 MPH, which is pedal bike speed, not even E-bike speed with would be twice as fast :CWL: . You can make it there in...
  2. Story: Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) Scaling for R2 and Beyond

The most useful Rivian chargers I have used have all be in remote areas not served well by other operators, including Tesla. Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Highway 101 Northern along the California coast up to Oregon. All those chargers actually make road trips much more accessible and have real...
  3. Now that calibration is done, can LFP batteries safely go below 20%

Still........ waiting for my calibration complete notification. I wonder if it is a manual process where some engineer has to manually review the battery data and send it out. Rivian has been incredibly opaque about what criteria they are looking for and to consider a battery calibrated...
  4. Rocklin, CA New service center?!?

Wow! RAN and Service center in the same location. That's a nice looking service center with a proper waiting area, unlike west Sac which is tiny and shares the space with all their customer service people. Let's hope they keep RAN prices competitive with all the other charging options along...
  5. 2027 R2 Reveal! Specs, Pricing, Range, Dimensions, Wallpapers, Colors, Interiors

Wish they offered the darkout package or made it standard for the performance model. Let's hope for this as a 2027 option.
  6. Now that calibration is done, can LFP batteries safely go below 20%

I don't think the sudden drop from 20% or even 10% should happen anymore. You can easily go down to 10%. <5% arrival starts to get a little more unknown. I don't think there are many real world drivers who are brave enough to always set their arrival at 5% on LFP pack, myself included. At...
  7. L2 charger getting hot

What is your ambient temperature? I'm guessing relatively warm Southern California temps. Temperature rise is the more important measure of how much heat is actually being generated. Sounds like a normal amount of heating for the cable at 32A. It can get really warm at 48A. The vehicle...
  8. Are you still in love with your LFP battery?

Depending on how long your preconditioned, the 0F outside temperature was probably the reason. If any part of the battery is not at optimal temperature, the BMS will not allow 500A max charging current. Worst things for any battery is high current charging at too low temperature.
  9. 2025 R1S Dual Standard - Battery calibration text from Rivian - Anyone else get this?

Whoa, that's roughly every 2 days. What % are you usually charging from? I am not driving much, so I only charge to 100% once a week or less. At this rate, I'll calibrate my battery sometime in 2nd half of 2026.
  10. 2025 R1S Dual Standard - Battery calibration text from Rivian - Anyone else get this?

I received the same text. I was pretty good about charging to 100% a few times a week but seems like it's still not good enough. I find it interesting they were so specific to say charge to 100% every two days. I still can't figure out how their recalibration process is calculating the true...
  11. 20" Inch Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 Factory AT tires + saving $

He said it didn't need to be done but he'd do it if I really insisted. Before he looked at the tires he said a rotation should take less than an hour. I had an appointment and was planning to wait. After he scanned the tires and saw there wasn't a huge amount of wear difference, he...
  12. 20" Inch Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 Factory AT tires + saving $

20k miles on Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 factory tires. 2025 DM. I am not a slow driver. 60% highway, 40% locals. Front is 5/32, rear is 5-6/32. Rotated once at 7.5k miles and then started using snow mode most of the time except during long freeway trips. Discount tire guy kind of...
  13. Firmware Update results in reduced range

Any idea what vehicle software version you were on before the service center did the update? 2025.38.30 released in late November was supposed to fix this calibration issue with LFP batteries. Were you running this version already? What you experienced was a known problem. To get a hold...
  14. 2025.46 Update - Review (Gen 2 & Gen 1 Owner)

Here is my experience with some of the .46 features after many hours of driving on and off freeway. #1 - Digital Keys The previous Bluetooth version worked really well for me with my Iphone 15 Pro. The new digital key has the annoying problem of forcing me to type in my Iphone password to...
  15. 12-Month review: I can't recommend the R1S for most people

If I was in your shoes, a top of the line Toyota Sienna with captains chairs is really the solution to all your complaints. The R1S gen 2 is a great vehicle, but it's not the universal solution for every use case. I still recommend anyone with little kids to get a minivan and live a much...
  16. Fogged up Autonomy camera

No wet things in the car. It's actually not that humid in general. Is that camera area actually sealed up like you describe? I supposed that would make sense, otherwise it would get filled up with dust over time with no way to clean it. I didn't have the windshield defroster going since...
  17. Fogged up Autonomy camera

Got a warning message 10 minutes into my drive saying cruise control and other features that depend on the camera were disabled. I learned something new today. The auto matrix headlights do not use the new cameras to control car detection local dimming. They must use the old Mobileye or...
  18. I hope they reassigned the engineer responsible for the horn

Horn to the Rivian Toy Division. I don't use my horn very often, but when I do I always feel like this is the car I am driving. It's embarrassing / laughable every time I need to use it. Hoping they do better with R2. 😆 BTW, I thought R1 was supposed to automatically capture drive cam...
  19. The Dreaded Axle Clunk is Back for Gen 1 AND Early Gen 2! But my R1S Now is Better Than New from Factory

I have a Gen2 R1S, July 24 build. ~17K miles on the car. I felt from day 1 that very low speed modulation is really difficult, especially trying to inch forward or back from Hold. Like when trying to inch up in the garage . It always seems like the brakes are "sticking" and then they...
