  1. Inyokern to Death Valley and back to Bay Area in my R1T

Death valley np is a real challenge. i wanted to go to check out the race track (playa) but it just seems too far to make it from any fast charger… inyokern being the closest but not close enough. i actually had wanted to camp in the park but there are only a handful of rv sites with hookups...
  2. Adaptive Cruise Control unavailable due to rain

I've got an idea! How about normal cruise control as an option? It's available in towing mode, but putting the truck towing mode to get normal cruise is quite the questionable work flow. Might nicely side-step all these fiddly cameras and sensors...
  3. R1T pulling semi (38,000 lbs) stuck in snow

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. I don't know much about towing, but I thought most of the more modern tow straps were made from Dyneema (very very little stretch) and thus really high peak forces when you shock load the strap... seems like they'd be similar forces to being in an accident...
  4. Charging Habits

not sure it’s irrelevant. i’d be surprised if any j1772 vehicle could reliably use shore power to heat the cabin. the minimum charge current j1772 allows is 6a (around 1500 watts) and whether it will initiate charging is dependent on SOC, charge schedule (as mentioned), and once charging...
  5. Windshield glass is trash

got a noticeable rock chip after 3k miles (car passing me at high speed kicked up a rock) after a snowstorm i came out to the truck and there’s a 6 inch hairline crack. maybe a piece of ice. could be worse. my friend with a model y is on his 3rd glass roof of the season. first 2 got moon...
  6. Software Version 2023.02.0 [beta] -- Improved EPA range, key fob firmware, new door ajar notification, steering improvement & more...

ah, maybe I have followed threads in the past that weren't "beta" but signs customers had gotten the update. I guess I don't actually know what beta is in this context. is this info leaked from Rivian employees? who is getting a beta release?
  7. Software Version 2023.02.0 [beta] -- Improved EPA range, key fob firmware, new door ajar notification, steering improvement & more...

I feel like I normally get OTA updates in <1 week after hearing it announced here. Closer to 2 weeks on this one and still no update. is it related? am i unlucky on this one? was this announced earlier than normal?
  8. charging network question (will sound like newbie)

you might want to check but i think that credit expired 12/31 except for low income / rural. there are some new tax incentives in the IRA for replacement of electrical panel ($600) and you may have other state or local credits. ask yourself how much your time is worth. $6k seems like a fine...
  9. Charging in Mammoth Lakes, CA

? 20" A/Ts. no tonneau cover (delivered from factory that way).
  10. Charging in Mammoth Lakes, CA

I live in Mammoth Lakes. I can confirm there is zero Level 3 charging anywhere in Mammoth, and zero public level 2 charging anywhere in town. There is of course a Tesla Supercharger (built on leased town land) and soon to be a second Supercharger again on government land at the new hockey rink...
  11. Navigation shows me an address, but can't search for it

Is this still a bug? I figure I'd let the dust settle but it's been months. The impacted experience is that my car locks and unlocks all day in the garage, gear guard records videos all day, no way to prevent without turning both features off (and on again when I want to use them). I can see my...
  12. Took delivery on an R1T yesterday without the tonneau

Mine was delivered in June with the power tonneau uninstalled from the vehicle by the service center. At the time they said it was backordered which we all thought would be maybe a few weeks or months. I can't distinguish in the OP's photos any difference between my bed and the OP's bed, other...
  13. Rivian app no longer recording charging sessions

Using the mobile/travel charger it's always seemed really buggy. It mostly works, but sometimes the data shown seems obviously wrong. My truck sometimes connects via wifi and then sometimes falls back to cell. I think the software might have issues with this. I've been alarmed to think the truck...
  14. It's not just you, garage door software is buggy

Has anyone had the instructions say to use the learn button on the opener (with a picture of a ladder and a garage door opener)… or better question does this NOT happen for certain remotes? My directions say to use the learn button but I don’t have one. Not sure if this means my opener is...
  15. Rivian R1T on Street Tires Went 60 Miles Farther in Highway Range Test - Car & Driver

I've seen comments like this a few times and I'm really surprised. What is this theory based on? That the lower temp makes less SOC available and thus we should see a shorter range and we'd do better at 85 F with higher available SOC range? That said I have no idea what internal temp Rivian...
  16. Highway Assist Roads gone missing??

Not sure if it was the latest software update or some other bug/issue with my truck, but the section of local highway that used to have Highway Assist (albeit sporadically - present for a mile or so - then absent for a few - then back again) no longer seems to. I drove it the night before...
  17. Adaptive Cruise Control not available?

I assume they meant the firmware bug meant it happened for *some cars* only *some of the time*. I've noticed a related failure too. Sometimes the lane keeping assist (the annoying nudge of the wheel and the displays on the dash that you're wandering out of your lane) don't work. There's no...
  18. What I hate about my R1T

Yep, Chevy Bolt has this too. Works flawlessly. If they didn't want the "ugliness" of a button it would be need if tapping or double tapping the retracted handles could serve as a button, similar to the dome lights
  19. Why exactly is it so cumbersome to use the multitude of charging networks?

Probably not what you mean but if you're a "+" member of Electrify America you need to use the app apple/google pay. The savings are substantial especially for a vehicle with such a large battery. It's $4/month but would save $12+ off a full charge of the battery. I don't think there is a way to...
  20. What I hate about my R1T

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that the seat/steering wheel/mirror controls will often switch to another registered drivers' settings if you're both/all getting in the car together. My partner and I have very different statures and I literally can't even get in the driver seat to change from...
