it is an accurate statement to say I will end up with $3000 less because I made a custom order opposed to selecting the same vehicle configuration from the shop. I get no preferences like timing on delivery, etc. It is silly in my mind to think this market would support higher prices…so I should...
I just layed out what is going on. I disagree this particular situation “happens all the time”. Look at what Tesla did with the CT. They exhausted their foundation series deliveries before offering others options. I sense a bit of Rivian bias rather than helping customers be aware.

Not quite…Rivian has me locked in with my deposit, which is $3000 non refundable. I will lose the $3000 deposit if I cancel to get the shop R1T for $3000 less. So in hindsight, I should have realized the price had the likely chance to go down and not have lock in.
It is absolutely a fact that I have cash on hand to pay off the the Rivian many times over and investments all over the place…so I could if I desired do what I said it’s therefore credible. I don’t pay cash has infinite reasons.
Folks need to know the contract
I had my reasons for signing the contract. I did not read all the fine print and most people don’t either. The assumptions I made were false, and as a result made me feel a particular way. I want to make sure that others don’t make the same assumptions that I did...
