Honestly, all youāre going to see coming up is the āpress release reviewsā where people go to launch events and write glowing assessments in return for free travel, lodging, meals, punch and pie. Otherwise they donāt get invited next time.
The more objective comparative reviews that come later...
That faster performance is due solely to less restrictive software. Totally uninformed re: merits of semi active suspension.
But my real point is that this seems to be a bit of a packaging miscue, the performance trim only offers somewhat more extreme tire wheel combo or the AT tire. Kind of...
You forgot the $4,000 from Premium to Performance.
So Premium 20ā AS to Performance 20ā AS is $6,500 upcharge for swanky wheels and less restrictive software.
I have no interest in losing range for AT tires that (apparently) aren't 3PMSF. So I'd prefer the 20" AS on those nifty 20" AT wheels from the factory and hope Pirelli WeatherActive (or Michelin-whatever) 3PMSF appear in R2 size.
I wonder if the Premium's Pirelli 20" AS will be a double-secret build option on Performance? Or maybe a swap at delivery? I want 20" but have no use for BFG AT that's (apparently) not 3PMSF. Seems a packaging miscue, but aiming for early-MY28 so perhaps it gets sorted out during year one...
This strangeness w/ BFG Trail-Terrain T/A+ continues - I just clicked on EVERY size currently listed on Tire Rack - ALL are 3PMSF except R2's 255/60/20. Perhaps production startup weirdness?
I'm aiming for ~summer 2027 for MY28, so perhaps this or other 3PMSF will materialize - Pirelli...
My guess is LE is offered through end-2026. Premium and Standard become available (plus those last few colors) for MY27.5 and Performance reverts to default configurations & pricing.
We're in the phase of what I call 'press release reviews' - shills are expected to lavish praise in return for free travel, lodging, meals, punch and pie. Otherwise they don't get invited next time.
Wait for the comparison tests - those are usually more grounded.
Perhaps Red Canyon (or whatever shade of red) is planned for R2X or R3 launch in the next year or so? Might explain (sort of) why not offered on R2 now and maybe its near-death experience recently w/ R1?
RC a bit too blazing for my personal preference, but sometimes such colors come off a bit...
Seems odd R2 āPerformanceā launches without a shade of red?
Maybe Red Canyon or some other shade for MY28? Thatās one reason Iāll wait for year 2.
