If it became known that Rivian permitted this I'm sure it would be all of 10 seconds before an R2Bay reservation transfer auction website sprang up allowing the many thousands who will not be following through on their reservation to charge as much as the traffic will bear. As someone way...
Agreed. I think the compute power increase and change of architecture arguably have more significance. Maxi-Me just officially flushed HW3, and it wasn't because his jellybeans don't have LIDAR. And any compute architecture switch is pretty much always just the first notice of software EOL...
Please oh please oh please don't let the Catalina Cove R2 become the new Whitetesla (though it would fersure be a vast improvement). Nobody buy one but me!
Presumably the R2 crossbars are compatible with whatever (possibly rather expensive) objects you've been attaching to the top of your R1 crossbars? Agree that if you could afford an R1 you can probably afford another set of crossbars. And maybe the new ones are even an improvement in some regard?
You could generalize this question with regard to just about any configuration, and I would certainly love to know the answer to that general question. In my case for instance, I want a Premium with LIDAR and (to keep this thread on-topic, of course, let's say a CC interior). When my reservation...
Yes, the waters do still seem a little muddy on how necessary (or at least useful) the LIDAR will be for the actual driving as opposed to just data collection only. Certainly doesn't seem like the worst idea in the world to wait for the new processors all on their own, however. I think I may...
I agree. And although (i) carmakers are ridiculously loose with their color names, and (ii) photos rendered on electronic display surfaces without color calibration on both ends can be significantly inaccurate, I have definitely not yet seen a single R2 interior photo that is darker than a dark...
Yes, at least on O'ahu, but they've conferred no benefits whatsoever for many years now AFAIK. We got ours from Big Island (FBI, as the tshirts say) and it was registered by the dealer there with normal plates for whatever reason.
And since you were clearly asking me to show you ours, why here you are!
It will look even better snuggled up with our eventual R2 Premium, the ultimate mid-priced mid-trim power couple. Move over Brangelina! (Oh wait, what's that?....)
Oddly enough, we were firmly set on an ID4 in early '22...
I agree with this to a certain degree, but ... there is some threshold of the
EvildoerIndex+CanILiveWithoutTheirStuff
sum calculation beyond which an ethically-motivated choice is absolutely compelling, at least to me.
I sincerely hope that R2's combination of stylistic appeal, drive...
Do I know what the CEO's of kitchenaid, dyson, samsung, etc are like? No, I do not. But if I did know that they were using the immense wealth derived from their company's products to vociferously promote repugnant beliefs and buy elections, and spending their vacation time firing government...
Besides cable length, doesn't seem like a great idea to have the cable connector sticking out from the car into the street where it could be struck by passing traffic. I've never seen a right-angle connector on a charging cable, I guess that might be possible but you probably couldn't make it...
Great to see, thanks for sharing that! So, US curbside charging very small but growing, while Tesla v3 posts not growing and in fact becoming an increasingly smaller fraction of total DCFC stalls.
Makes me wonder if moving the port on R2 from the right side to the wrong side is more about...
On a Tesla v3 (if that's the only place you can charge, which I think is certainly becoming less of an issue), with a port near the front passenger wheel if they had located it there. Unfortunately they did not. :(
I'm absolutely certain there's virtually no streetside charging in the US now, but I sure as hell hope that's not still true in 5 years. How long are v3 superchargers going to be around, and even if the existing ones are all still here in 5 years, won't there certainly be a much wider choice of...
I certainly hope streetside charging appears in the US as well, and am disappointed that making it easier to use v3 superchargers that will not be around forever was seen as more important. I suppose if you're going to ditch your car after a 3-year lease (and before there's any appreciable...
And maybe it's also just a tad absurd that much of the gnashing of teeth is over photos/videos first made by probably non-color-calibrated cameras (under a wildly variable set of lighting conditions) and then examined on a multitude of different probably non-color-calibrated display surfaces...
Yeah, we too only have a 1-car garage. (Well, one car and one hoarding bay.) I imagine some here may not be pleased to hear that if we proceed with an R2 purchase that'll be the car left in the driveway in favor of our matte finish Ioniq 5 indoor pet.
