As everything on the R1 platform this is waaay over-engineered.
I agree they could recoup all the lost 30 grand per vehicle by not including this speaker as standard :D
And the saddest part that probably 90% of user base does not uses it...
I had a similar experience. The config I have ordered from the R1T shop was en-route to my SC when I ordered it (did not know at that time, learned later from SC).
I got a text from SC 2 days later that my truck is at the SC and they will start prepping. My guide had zero clue about it at this...
I think it was more like a proximity to an SC ;)
As it turned out one vehicle with the same configuration as I ordered was already en-route to the SC from the plant on the day I have ordered it from the shop.
Probably a simpler config means a better chance for a quicker turn around (or at least...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilbert_principle ;)
ps. I know in this case it is not intra-company but inter-company, still I could not help myself to think of the above principle.
(I traded my '23 MY for a '23 R1T)
Did you consider that on R1 you have a very high step to get into the cabin compared to a MY which is super easy to get in/out heightwise?
If your body is aging I would definitely make a test drive with an R1 before pulling the trigger to avoid a possible...
There is a legal requirement about the maximum deceleration that shall not be exceeded with park brake while the vehicle is moving (maybe about 0.3G?) due to the instability it would cause to lock up the rear axle.
(One of my job back in the old days was to implement this feature for electric...
I think it had more to do with repair costs than maintenance cost (for corpo's pov it can be washed together)
Rental cars get dinged/bumped more frequently (less user care) and on that front EV repair costs are more expensive than for the ICE vehicles. So much more that it does not...
As others said this cover uses the bed's already built-in rails.
The only issue you might run into that older productions the channel's end was closed (as PTC was the norm those days even if they stopped shipping for a while Rivian thought they can remedy it quickly...) so the plastic...
How about a soft (rollup) tonneau cover?
I know it has its drawbacks but would not fit your use case much better?
Probably others will tell you that if you have pre-hike price get the T as early as you can. This way you can enjoy it for a longer time hence have a better quality of life for...
Wrench will not work. You will only turn the whole valve stem with the cap fused to it.
I have tried on all 4 wheels. One wrench to the stem base one on the cap. Won't budge.
You must cut them off and get new valves.
This 100%!
If it is cheap aluminum like most of them on Amazon and your roads are salted in winter then these caps will literally fuse to the valve stems and you must cut them off.
I had them on my wife's car and it was a painful lesson learned for life.
Plastic caps ftw :)
