I think Rivian is in a interesting spot. I love them - I got a reservation. But the competition is here, and the competition is real.
Between Hummer EV and the ID4, is where I find Rivian. There is room for this market, but man - in USA in 2020, only 36k Etron + Model X were sold; there are...
I present to you, guaranteed 7.12% return on US government bonds. You guys think I BS on this forum - with my 2024 delivery dates, and 7%+ returns on investment; but all of these things are backed up with data. I don’t live in the clouds, or fantasyland; ain’t no time for that.
The Secret Is...
Easy. US Treasury resets the rate they pay on inflation protected bonds. It just reset in November to 7.12%.
The Secret Is Out on 7.12% Inflation-Protected Bonds

This has been part of my fear with my R1S and Rivian in general. It is taking so long for them to bring something to market, that by the time they do; brands like Hyundai and VW will have competing or better technology.
I think what were learning is that Rivian is no Lucid, or Tesla. Rivian...
Ehh. I can earn guaranteed 7.13% return on investment right now. There is no way Rivian is paying me 7% to give them a loan (reservation).
I say this as a reservation holder who has lent money to a business that cannot deliver the product...for months or even years.
Is it a no brainer? Some...
Try Christmas 2023. And more realistically....2024
Rivian is still dealing with 1 assembly line for two vehicles, plus a dedicated assembly line for the Amazon van. Last we knew, Rivian still couldn't produce more then 2 vehicles a day.
You don't think Rivian would have bad communication skills? If there is one thing Rivian is known for....it's bad communication, or lack of communication.
Cause they sure aren't known for making vehicles.....
I crack myself up...
I would value Rivian similarly to Lucid, personally. Lucid has a 77-78bn market cap. Similar potential.
I would guess that these two are going to trade very similarly - unproven EV brands with no real customer deliveries, manufacturing processes in their infancy, brand new supply chains, etc...
Details are scarce. Sounds like Rivian is only letting reviewers discuss the vehicles in approved ways, and test the vehicles in specific ways (e g. 30mph speed limit while testing)
What's everyones take on this?
Is every review, thus far, been "fake"? Are we only hearing what Rivian wants us...
Tons of Mach-E.
Consumers have cash. Consumers will buy EV. They will not wait for Rivian. Enthusiasts will. But that is niche.
I don’t think Rivian stock is worth what it is, given their ability to execute. They will be valuable, but these relatively really expensive and niche-ish grocery...
Detroit Free Press article today; Hummer EV customer deliveries starting in next 2-3 weeks, with the Cadillac Lyriq following immediately after.
q4 Etron is available in Europe. Not sure what the delay is in North America.
Model Y performance deliveries only delayed till February.
Around me...
My mind is blown. On November 11th, Tesla raised the price of the Model Y another $1000. Current Model Y owners have an appreciating asset on their hands, with owners able to sell their vehicles for thousands more than they paid for them.
How has Rivian not raised prices?
Has anyone on the...
For those of us who do not use Alexa, is there any other way to open and close the front trunk?
I wish Amazon would just go ahead and acquire Rivian. It is obvious that Amazon wants to "Amazonify" the Rivian brand.
Yes. R1S buyers in 2021 will have to wait until Q2-Q3 2024. I still believe this.
Prior to this time, there will be a trickle of vehicles making their way out. But for the poster asking how long till I get my R1S if I order now; yes - you will be waiting until Q2-Q3 2024.
Incorrect. Find the post where I say Q3 2024 is when deliveries start.
The Q2-Q3 2024 date I toss around is for my R1S delivery, and everyone else who has reserved one in 2021.
I talk quite extensively about deliveries starting in 2021-2022, depending on definition of customer.
Did you maybe...
Don't use the Model 3 production ramp up as a guideline. The Model 3 was the third vehicle (or 4th. If you can't the original Roadster) from Tesla.
This meant 2 other vehicles to work on battery, charging, infotainment, navigation, manufacturing process reengineering, etc. By the time Tesla...
