  1. Doug DeMuro: 2022 GMC Hummer EV

I have pre-orders in for the Rivian R1S, Cybertruck and Hummer EV SUV. My use case in retirement living in Colorado will be: going to the ski resorts, an hours drive from my remote house into town each way, and camping in the vehicle on trails and trailheads up in the mountains. My vehicle will...
  2. GM's Mary Barra Pressed To Acknowledge Tesla, Avoids And Refuses

Ya I don't think a company founded in 1908 is a "Boomer" company.
  3. Max Pack holders: tell me your thoughts

I will be at high altitude in the Colorado mountains and it gets cold. So it's max pack R1S or heading back to the Cybertruck.
  4. R1T Towing Range Sneak Peek — 44 Miles of Predicted Range with 37% Battery Remaining

Towing is the NEMESIS of electric vehicles. Not only does the vehicles range get HAMMERED, but virtually all current charging infrastructure/spots doesn't physically allow to charge with a trailer attached. Disconnect a trailer half a dozen times to charge and you'll never tow again.
  5. ? Cybertruck spied with new side mirrors, rear wheel steering, turning radius!

Last report I read, electric vehicles are around 1/10th as likely to catch on fire as an ICE vehicle. With the way the world is going, I'd take the vehicle protection versus the tiny chance I couldn't get out of the vehicle AND it's on fire.
  6. ? Cybertruck spied with new side mirrors, rear wheel steering, turning radius!

I am one of the lowest number pre-order holders for a CT, and even though I only pre-ordered an R1S early this summer, I think I may get the R1S sooner! Things I love about the Cybertruck: 1. Stainless steel that is extremely hard to dent. 2. No paint to take care of with washing and waxing...
  7. Rough Calculation of Rivian Orders, Delivery Times

Preordered R1S this July 2021, would be looking for the max pack. You guys think 2023 at the earliest?
  8. ? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

Yikes, 10-15% loss of range on the 20" wheels. That means on a cold day we could be talking under 200 miles real range highway.
  9. What $70K ICE car would you have gotten ?

I would never get another ICE. I would keep my Model Y performance and keep my Cybertruck reservations, which I still am until Rivian proves it can be a sustainable business.
  10. R1S Pre-order complete

What comments? If the R1S doesn't get the 180 kWh battery, I would most likely cancel and just continue with my Cybertruck order.
  11. Senate $40k cap on ev tax credit

$40K for a car these days is nothing. I mean Tesla's bare bones zero optioned lowest Model 3 barely squeezes in.
  12. Pre-heating and Pre-cooling????

Huge difference: 1. A car engine running goes through fuel pretty quick; ie: costly. 2. Added pollution. 3. Running car is easier to steal. 4. Running car is a larger target. 5. Carbon monoxide poisoning risk. 6. Wear and tear on many internal combustion engine systems. 7. Running car is less...
  13. Pre-heating and Pre-cooling????

If there is no "parked" climate control functions, like Tesla's Camp/Pet modes, I will cancel my R1S order 100%. That is a deal-breaker for me.
