Yes, highly inconvenient and not worth prepaying $13 and try to use more than 300kWhr to average a $6 savings over 5-6 sessions (assuming a road trip) in a month. Plug and Charge rocks more than hoping to score a $2 savings over a month. And yes the few times weâve used Tesla, the discount rate...
No way thatâs the case. At most the differences youâre talking about are 1%⊠3% if generous (5% is stretching it). What OP is reporting is a massively HUGE discrepancy of more than 7% if they have a Max pack, more than 10% if they have a Large pack and even bigger if their pack is smaller still...
It knows how much it dispenses and the SoC is what it gets from the car from being plugged in. Iâve never seen EA mis-report the SoC when weâve charged.
The sense I get on the forum is everyone is keen on signing up for the âdiscountâ and willingly pre-pay Tesla $13/mo for a discounted rate and then to make it back you have to purchase at least 150kWhr of juice (in our area the discount means anywhere between 150-165kWhr) before the pre-payment...
How do you get the AAA discount? Is it only an EVgo in their app or is it some sort of AAA EV charging perk with their card or some other way? I use Costcoâs Citibank card for 4% off. Before we got our Rivian we were maxing out the 4% rebate up to $7k in fuel spend by July or August every year...
Or in the one time I tried EVgo $1.23/kWhr⊠that was my one and only time. They make it hard to know what youâll pay and their dispenser flashed the cost too quickly when it interrupted my sessions about 5-10min into it. I restarted it, needed a bit more but when I manually ended that second one...
Perhaps this is related to the MagicDock sites that wonât release them the MagicDock. It seems itâs a fault that theyâve found with early Ford adapters Tesla produced which very could well affect MagicDocks.
Kind of ironic that Tesla has been discouraging and claiming damage may occur from...
I wondered if this might start happening. But how Is it possible for the MD to be released from the Tesla plug when itâs not holstered? It doesnât have lock release like the Tesla adapters that have shipped.
I donât know, last Friday night I stopped at v4 with MD given how much cheaper it was than the alternatives nearby and it wouldnât release the MD. I used my Rivian provided Tesla adapter and plug and charge still worked. It seemed weird the MD wouldnât release - it seemed deliberate as holding...
âAND at any and all Tesla superchargers that are 250 kW even without Magic Dockâ is inaccurate.
Check Teslaâs website and youâll note most Superchargers sites including many v3 250kW ones do not support non Tesla. I cite the example of Utah. Itâs easily verifiable by counting sites on...
Not accurate. Fewer than 40% of Supercharger sites in our area are accessible to non Tesla and most are v3 (250kW) chargers and a few v2 that would need to be upgraded. Heck thereâs even a brand new Supercharger site about 3 miles from home thatâs not enabled for NACS non-Tesla. Utah is a great...
Generac XT8000EFI works well. Iâve got it powering our whole home so on days we have outages Iâve had to dial our Wallbox down to to 12A or 16A depending on other loads we have going but other wise should be able to provide for 24A or 30A if thereâs no other load.
Yeah I was going to say the same thing. Teslaâs been jacking the rates. Theyâve more than doubled in our area since spring for non Tesla. Close to EVgo rates which are also excessive.
Agreed, Iâve noticed that the few times weâve used Supercharger our Rivianâs battery comes out way way hotter than even an EA. Itâs coolest coming off a RAN, BC and Flo, EA is next coolest but with Supercharger Iâve noticed close to 120F every time (different sites). Canât be good to use Tesla...
Not only that, they seem to have recently dramatically increased the rates for charging (for non Tesla at least). In the spring we stopped at a Supercharger on a towing trip and stopped to try a Magiclock site. The rate was $0.23/kW for non Tesla. The same stop last weekend was $0.44/kW. Same...
There are quite a few v3 that are also not compatible. In our region fewer than 40% of Superchargers are compatible with non Tesla. To me it seems more like marketing to claim that they have broad coverage when the reality is it doesnât really open much more, itâs more like another option, like...
Looks like it's with a 3rd party EVSE. Have you tried with the Rivian EVSE? I've noticed similar 10.5-11kWhr charging with a Wallbox but when I plug into our Rivian one it's pretty stable and holds to 11.2+ throughout the session (although that's usually when it's colder outside). I haven't used...
Great find! I've been using an old IKEA one we've had for ages. They're great deals too. Just looked and they're still $60 and it seems more compact than our old one.
