Sorry, I don't mean to say that it wasn't a mistake for Rivian to wait so long to communicate about this. I was speaking only specifically to perhaps why Monday morning the guides would have been saying one thing, and by the evening saying something else...
There are several issues at hand here, many have been discussed. Don't marginalize my point and focus on just one of them.
I don't get why Rivian had OC pre-orders sign PBAs. That bit makes no sense to me unless they actually did produce some OC vehicles and those are the ones who are getting...
These are factory built vehicles, subject to the demands of factory logistics. They aren't bespoke McLarens. We're paying a lot for a vehicle (relatively), but not that much. Rivian has priorities that are greater than that of pre-order dates, and, at least to me, that's never been unclear...
For being head of customer engagement, Mr. Caravano is certainly a man of few words. I'm not reading too much into "going forward," as it may just be filler so the email isn't a single sentence. :-D
I vaguely remember submitting my email for interest in a drive event, separate from my account. Anyways, to answer your specific question, I updated my signature with the relevant details.
I received an invitation for a first mile mobile drive this morning. But I actually already booked it yesterday because I noticed the option become available in my account on the website yesterday. So by soon they really mean soon. Earliest appt was Apr 5.
That thought occurred to me after reading through this thread. Alas, that's one thing I'm willing to wait for (along with the LE green). I just gotta hope that parts don't run out before June/July. :-D
