  1. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Because some people want to avoid the possible situation I ran into . I live in a rural area. Multiple roads were closed due to a storm, trees were down and flooding. It's all small mountains, winding roads with no connections between the few that are there. Overall, I added more than 20 miles...
  2. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Driving and safety studies have come up with various recommendations. After 2 to 3 hours driving they recommend taking a 15 minute break for mental clarity. I usually target 3 to 3.5 hours regardless of what vehicle I am driving. There will be "manly men" who insist they are fine after 4 or more...
  3. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

You must have missed my closing statement: "There are certainly other contributing factors to these equations, but this illustrates the benefit of 800 volt is BIG." The math clearly indicates that the less heat is produced, allowing more charging to take place before hitting any thermal...
  4. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Yes it is thermal limited ....... but the heat generated at 800V charging is a lot less so there is a significant gain, it's not a few minutes. James Prescott Joule discovered an important relationship in the 1800s. Us science and engineering geeks learned in high school that Joule's First Law...

  8. Auto wipers not working. Any tips?

This has been reported by others in the past. It's considered "normal". Maybe not "acceptable" but "normal". I think some of us are more, or less, tuned into this type of vibration. If it happens in my R1S, I've never noticed it.
  9. New to forums and Rivian - want to discuss my pre-purchase concerns

I thought about replying to your individual concerns, but about 3/4 of the way through your list, my opinion is that you should not buy a Rivian. One thing I can’t fathom is that you have a ton of security concerns but then you blast Rivian for not allowing side loading, which is the mother of...

  11. R2 "Deliveries in Spring" but you can't configure/order until June?

Based on Rivian's history with the R1 and past non-specific statements like "Late Spring" or "Late 2022", a statement of "Q4 2026" should be interpreted as sometime after December 15th. ;)
  12. R2 vs. Model Y vs. R1 size comparison (dimensions: length, width, height, wheelbase, storage capacity)

R2 is the R1 Mini-me. I wish they were a little more different in styling.
  13. A good time to own an EV - Gas Prices about to go nuts [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

Diesel in my area is over $5.00 a gallon - $1.40 a gallon more than regular. o_O Even during COVID, the spread maxed out at around $1.00 as I recall. When we bought my wife's X3 Diesel, the spread was about 50 cents so the diesel was cheaper to operate. Not any more!
  14. A good time to own an EV - Gas Prices about to go nuts [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

But there's a big beautiful solution for that - the biggest battleship EVER with laser beams will surely scare those pesky guerillas away, right?
  15. A good time to own an EV - Gas Prices about to go nuts [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

Iran's ability to attack has been stunted/diminished - major systems have been destroyed. But makeshift gunboats & minelayers, limpet mining from a fishing boat, stockpiles of drones, armed citizens, etc. are still in operation and thriving. Iran excels at assymetric warfare, which is being...

  17. Update: Georgia factory construction begins 2026, with R2/R3/R3X production in 2028 -- (article published 1/22/25)

Google Earth has imagery from November 2025. They have a loooong way to go. I was watching the progress photos when they were doing rough site prep a few years ago. Back then, there was no evidence that any work other than rough grading to establish building elevations and storm water management...

  19. Gen2 R1S making loud buzzing noise when heat is on

 Good luck with that Lemon Law attempt.
  20. Bluetooth interference

I'm not going to engage in any arguments about this. There are a multitude of scientifically controlled experiments that well document these issues. The design of the receiver front end is a major factor in how interference manifests itself. Here's just one controlled study. There are many. You...
