I used that same mount, but in a different location. Mine went onto the area right in front of the armrest. It was originally intended as a temporary solution, but it works so well I'm planning on keeping it for a while...
What I like about it:
SUPER strong magnetic attachment (I use a...
Yup. My 'service' person tried to have me do this on my truck yesterday... she didn't really seem to know exactly what the procedure is...
Didn't fix my issue (cover does not open/retract all the way, short by about 6") and created a new issue, as mentioned above, it now closes and then...
My insurer requested that I not do this... I was told that in the above scenario, it requires fully cancelling the first policy and re-writing it as a new policy, not just simply changing the dates. Not a huge deal, but not ideal from their perspective.
Perhaps USAA is different as well.
Unlike every other new vehicle I have purchased where showing proof of insurance for another currently insured vehicle with identical ownership is sufficient, I was told that Rivian requires proof of insurance for the specific truck delivered with matching VIN. My guess is that this is because...
Once a VIN is assigned, it is usually the time for transport to the closest service center and whatever delay/backlog the service center has for completing the PDI and delivery. Both are dependent on where you are and how busy the local center is...
For me, it was about 4 days from getting...
That is the EXACT thought i had when i read the OP post... The PPF on the gear tunnel is applied kind of poorly, not really following the edges well, not wrapped. I love the idea of getting top quality PPF from the factory, but it has to be as good or better than the dozens of shops that do it...
On the wifi thing, it seems like a huge number of IOT devices can't deal with a wifi SSID that is common between 2.4 and 5 GHz bands...
I gave up on this long ago and just have a dedicated 2.4 GHz SSID for all my IOT devices. This has the added benefit of being much easier to firewall off all...
My caps just arrived, snapped right into place! Look 1,000X better than no caps, color match very good, fit is nice and tight.
Even though I have the Twraps logo stickers, I decided to use them without the additional logo and think they look great!
The truck really doesn't need another RIVIAN...
Short term fix, since pet mode is arriving, but I noticed today that if you leave your truck in 'show mode' (Settings > Vehicle > Service > "Show and Tell On"), the climate control will stay running (plus the screens, music, lights if on).
Yes, you can still lock the doors.
Drift mode = Intentionally letting the back end break free more easily. Essentially "Show off" mode. Or "lets do donuts" mode.
Rally mode = Fast but controlled on loose surfaces. Lets the truck slide around underneath you but is trying to check excessive yaw.
My (realistic) wish list:
(this will be amended as things move forward)
Most of these are software improvements that could likely be implemented without any hardware enhancements.
An "Off" switch on the console! I hate just walking away from the truck waiting for the phone to be out of range...
Friday Morning Twisties:
(cross post from Rivian FB group)
I often run some mountain twisties on Friday mornings with some of my sports-car buddies... Today I took the R1T instead of the 911 Turbo. WOW, just amazing and was a blast!
800HP and zero power loss at 10,000' doesn't hurt, but what...
Delivery Glitch:
The Rivian delivery process is pretty awesome... Even though I am only about 25 minutes from our local Service Center, they did a home delivery.
The delivery didn't go quite as planned. There was definitely a bit of a glitch, but how they responded impressed the heck out of...
Thought I would start a thread to comment and discuss my new R1T!

I agree and understand, but opening the latch kicks it out enough so gravity can (sometimes) take over. And (other times) not. Obviously a slope would effect this, as would the airbags adjusting the 'rake' of the truck, but as others have mentioned, most of the videos show it dropping on its own.
