  1. 21" tire tread wear and mileage.

@bkswede addressed the extra wheel issue in a different thread today. He said the Service Center guys told him you'll be able to buy extra wheels through the gear shop in the future, and may be able to do it from the service center at time of delivery...
  2. 21" tire tread wear and mileage.

I'm in a hurry today so didn't do the thorough reading, but in my experience Tire Rack is pretty darn reliable -- I'm sure they do. Their research links are outstanding -- you can spend as much time as you have and get as educated as you want on their site. A digital library for tire nerds.
  3. 21" tire tread wear and mileage.

Looks like 22's are the option for that. Decent selection, including Michelins, at Tire Rack.
  4. 21" tire tread wear and mileage.

Wait, Rivian won't sell extra wheels? This strategy makes perfect sense. Looks like the solution is after-market 20" wheels for winter. (Or, if your non-winter is 4 months long, after-market 22's for summer.) I was wondering why Rivian wouldn't jump at the chance to sell extra stuff, but...
  5. Show off your Level 2 Home Charger installs here

Yipe. Can't imagine why you'd want to do that. Hardwire is safer and cleaner.
  6. Show off your Level 2 Home Charger installs here

I believe gunslinger is correct, that the Rivian charger can only be hardwired. If you already have a NEMA 14-150 plug on that wall, then at least power has already been run to that wall location. That saves a step and probably half the labor. It should be easy work for an electrician to...
  7. Show off your Level 2 Home Charger installs here

I'm not getting mine installed until the end of September, so no pictures yet. I was going to go with the Charge Point Flex, until I happened to notice an "EV Charger" link at Enphase, my rooftop solar company website. Turns out Enphase just recently bought Clipper Creek. I ended up going...
  8. 21" tire tread wear and mileage.

Yes, that is the trade-off with Low Rolling Resistance tires. They're made of a softer rubber and wear quicker, even before the weight and driving style issues. But they make a real difference on mileage. I've had a Prius for 20 years and a Camry hybrid for 12, and have gone back and forth...
  9. Took delivery of my R1S just now after 3+ year wait

It's a little hard to tell in that light, but that looks like a really sweet green.
  10. Introductions! Drop in and say hello new and old members...

Hey, all. Also a long-time lurker, first-today poster. I've been pretty active already over on a few R1S threads this evening, so I won't repeat myself here and be that guy. Good to meet you, and I'll see you around the boards.
  11. Would you buy now (yes) or wait (no): Poll

If it makes a difference in getting the credit, hell yes. Go for it and enjoy! (BTW I'm not a tax professional giving advice here. Just a Rivian order holder who read some IRS fine print today for his own interest. Ran into it while looking up credits and rebates for my new charger.)
  12. Would you buy now (yes) or wait (no): Poll

I share your lack of confidence. There are two different issues with the tax credit. The one that went into effect right away on August 16, 2022 was the assembled-in-America requirement. That's not an issue for the Rivian. The rest of the changes -- in particular the $80,000 price cap, and...
  13. First half 2023 delivery realistic for order placed in Nov 2021?

I mean, in fairness, there was a pandemic in there, and a world-wide supply chain disruption. I'm not belly-aching (much). But if our orders are 3 years apart, and our delivery time is the same, I might start.
  14. Any R1S pre-orders hear from guides recently?

Thanks, guys. I was remembering the price announcement when I ordered in Nov. 2018 -- before there were separate configurations (and the R1S was to start at 65K). It looks like when the configurator went live two years later, that had gone up $5000. Thanks for clearing that up. I was...
  15. Our R1S is here!

I'm less persistent -- I only emailed them once. Roughly the same result. I didn't count that as individualized communication, since I initiated it and no useful information was provided. I see others with Guides, and in my head I hear, "Pretty women are walkin' with gorillas down my street...
  16. Any R1S pre-orders hear from guides recently?

That would be an awfully nice 4-year-anniversary/Thanksgiving present. If I beat Dec. 31, I can get the credit! (After Dec. 31, I'm SOL.)
  17. Any R1S pre-orders hear from guides recently?

I'm also intrigued by this underbody shield phenomenon. I have no need for that for suburban commuting. But if it's a thing, I might pay it to play. Adventure + underbody = the poor man's LE upgrade?
  18. Any R1S pre-orders hear from guides recently?

Thank you, Mygrain -- I feel that I am starting to meet my people. I am curious about another thing. I just wandered over to my configuration summary, which I haven't looked at in a while, and the price is $5K higher than I expected. The original Explore was $65K. I upped to Adventure in...
  19. Our R1S is here!

Congrats to mbooie and the other imminent deliverees. Enjoy!!
  20. Our R1S is here!

Day 2 order here. I've spoken to no one. Gotten only the blast emails. The one in July said 1H 2023. But that's my fault for ordering Explorer, not Launch Edition. Didn't see the pandemic/supply chain thing coming. Or the demise of Explorer anyway. Adventure, to me, is $5500 for a better...
