Not really a fan of being at the mercy of whatever is in the Shop at the time you want to make the purchase. Very little selection of R1S vehicles right now. Hopefully that improves.
Better yet, just release a quad with in-house motors before September and let us use the 20% voucher on those...
R1 isn't old.
But if they bring many of these new features to the R1 later this year, current R1 owners are going to feel like they have the "old" model. Kinda like pre-refresh Model S/X.
They could always take a page out of Tesla's playbook. Tesla recently offered a $1,000 discount on an S, X or Y for those with a Cybertruck reservation who didn't want to wait until their spot in the line came up.
Rivian will gather a bunch of valuable leads from the $100 reservations and can...
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed with the specs of the $48k base model and the amount they'll need to spend to get 330 miles and 3 sec 0-60.
They need to keep selling R1 vehicles for the next 2 years and if the R2 is anywhere close to the R1 in specs for considerably less...
If you get the QM you get to experience the half shaft noise that all the early adopters have oh so much fun with. Seems to have been fixed for the DM variants.
Also would help to give preorder pricing people a firm deadline to order before that pricing goes away. Won't be popular (and I'm one of those people) but it would clear those cheaper vehicles off the books once and for all.
Yeah the guy just wouldn't stop about the "plugs". Was hoping to be there in person but watched the stream instead.
Maybe now I'll finally use my 2018 reservation and actually get one now that service might be a bit easier here in SE WI.
