I agree and think it will be easier to accept adaptive cruise if one focuses on flow of traffic rather than the actual allowed speed limit. Once one gets used to it, It is definitely a lot safer than regular cruise because it adjusts to the flow of traffic and makes driving much less stressful...
For my case, my Model S is almost 6 years old and brake pads still good as new because of regen. I admit that initially the experience was somewhat odd because of the instant slowing when the gas pedal was lifted. But after a few days, it became second nature and then I realized how convenient...
Understood, however, I don't think they have delivered any previous orders in any significant numbers even now. In any case, I too am quite anxious about getting my R1S and do hope we won't have to wait too too long.
I totally agree and for what it's worth, if one goes to Tesla's website, the new and improved Model S and X are now delayed until next March-April, and these are well established models.
I don't know if it has been mentioned, this amendment is "non-binding" and most people don't see it passing through the House of Representatives because most will be against it.
