If Scout does proper research and builds a real electric truck with a fixed roof, 300 miles range, and 35s from factory with air suspension (2” lift), they’ll sell tons of these.

where do we draw the line? Should we draw it at $120K and be content if Rivian pulls this again in 2 years and it should be OK because it is really worth it (extremely subjective)?
An X5M is $110K without Comp. Which is a hell of a car for the money.
A Cayenne GTS is about $120-$130K well-spec'ed.
Again, to clarify, it is not an argument if the Rivian is or is not worth $90K. That's not the essence of this thread.
I see what you mean but for $100-$110K there is Cayenne, BMW X5M, RRS, and array of other options that forces people to prove themselves into another bucket.
The uncertainty is also the issue where by 2024 who knows what else could happen.
This is not only about $1,000 this is also about...
You found a good way to convince yourself that waiting 3 years and paying $100K for something sold to you for $80K is not bad business practice.
You also have to take into account the timing of things, and how this is strategically being done so that no one that reserved a Rivian will get it...

New RRS is supposed to have the hybrid BMW engine from the X5/7-Series (used in RR as well) so that would be idea for me. Been terrified of LR products due to reliability issues so I’m hoping electronics/mechanical with the BMW partnership improves that.

I’m not too concerned about a price increase. I could’ve tolerated a $4000-$5000 increase to be honest, but I’m up to $16K more and I’m end of 2023 holder.
