  1. The speed of "right". Does anyone really care when deliveries start?

Another thread for complainers. As for the Rivian I expect to own it soon after they offer it to me. Until then I will keep driving my eleven year old car with 17500 miles on the odometer. My current transportation options should last several more years without many changes.
  2. Chicago Rivian Sales Location Under Construction

I know that even southern Wisconsin is not near Chicago but I appreciate the times that you have been able to provide pictures of the Rivian sales office construction progress. It would take me a full day to get there and back.
  3. Chicago Rivian Sales Location Under Construction

Scooter, thank you for keeping Rivian fans up to date on the progress of the Chicago sales office. I'm interested because it's about a 20 minute walk from the Amtrak station. I live near the Amtrak station in Lansing and can get to Chicago by train in about four hours. If construction...
  4. RJ Scaringe: first Rivian R1T deliveries delayed from July 2021 until September

I agree that the truck is worth waiting for. I currently own my 10 year old Volt which has about 18000 miles on the odometer. Currently I spend about $60 per year on electricity. I'm installing solar panels so that expense should be taken care of by the sun soon. Because my car is a hybrid I...
  5. RJ Scaringe: first Rivian R1T deliveries delayed from July 2021 until September

I tried blocking a troll but kept seeing the posts until I figured out that I need to sign on in the morning to stop seeing the name. I have my browser set to delete all cookies and the history every time I close it so I leave it open during the day.
  6. A look at Rivian key fob - carabiner shape and colors

I have been led to believe that electric motors don't have emissions. What does the theft of a catalytic converter have to do with Rivian?
  7. A look at Rivian key fob - carabiner shape and colors

I assume that you care more as much as you care less about the fob. In my experience, wireless technology is not faultless. Sometimes you need a physical device when the electronics don't work. In this case a key may be the only option. I'm hoping that I don't have to break in if I don't have a...
  8. What will you name your Rivian?

I feel that anthropomorphizing a machine, while a very human thing to do, is not my way of doing things. I expect that I will refer to it as our truck. It won't have the capability of caring one way or another despite it's multiple computer processors.
  9. What's your next car after Rivian?

For the last 50 years I have bought one vehicle per decade. I have no idea what will be available in 2031. Does anybody?.
  10. Introducing Rivian Guides Program: A dedicated Guide for your entire Rivian ownership

Many who speak English as their native language have the same incorrect usage. You probably learned it from them.
  11. Introducing Rivian Guides Program: A dedicated Guide for your entire Rivian ownership

Grammatical errors in sentences about grammar is irony humor that I enjoy.
  12. Introducing Rivian Guides Program: A dedicated Guide for your entire Rivian ownership

I'm impressed with how few grammar errors there have been in this forum. Even kanundrum (sp?) who has typed thousands of words has gotten it right most of the time. I am easily distracted by malaprops where the poster does not know the difference between stopping and damaging something; or...
  13. Introducing Rivian Guides Program: A dedicated Guide for your entire Rivian ownership

Rivian says " Every Rivian preorder holder will be paired with a dedicated Rivian Guide who will serve as your single point of contact from the moment your vehicle enters our production queue, for as long as you own your Rivian." When I bought my Volt the first month that GM made them I was...
  14. Electrify America charging issues - More RAN stations because I don't want to deal with this nonsense.

The Home Depot near me has an outlet on a light pole in the parking lot but the current to the outlet can be switched off from inside. When I wanted to use it for a power tool, I had to ask someone inside to turn it on. Obviously it wouldn't be available for anyone to plug in for car charging.
  15. Who will get theirs first?

My birthday is mid-July which I feel is a more feasible estimate for the time when a R1T LE will be available for me to pick up.
  16. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

I use my Alexa as a calculator instead of using a physical one. I expect that I would be able to do that in the Rivian.
  17. Poll: Rivian Factory Delivery & Tour

I did not find this thread when it was originally posted so I'm adding my story today. I am hoping to use some of my accumulated Amtrak miles so that my wife and I can take the train from our home town and get off at the Normal station. From there It's a three mile walk to the Rivian factory...
  18. R1T off-road testing in Arizona with some 2 wheel and hill descent control action - posted by RJ Scaringe

I thought that all electric vehicles now were required to turn on the brake lights when the vehicle is in regeneration mode. I don't know what "trailing the brakes" means but I expect that it wouldn't be necessary in this situation to touch the brakes at all.
  19. Model (R1S or R1T) and delivery time frame

The artist part of my mind likes the color yellow. The engineer side tells me that its color has little affect on the functionality of the product. I chose the silver because it would reflect the sunlight better than darker colors and keep the truck a little cooler. In addition since I don't...
  20. Michigan bill to ban direct sales

In the Michigan House district where I live the representative voted against House Bill 6233. So the only reason to contact her would be to thank her for her vote. I will be looking into contributions to Electric Auto Association as you suggested.
