  1. R1S Shop invite received ? Get yours?

4/19 preorder and also received yesterday. Fwiw I live within about 5 miles of the Irvine HQ (shouldn’t matter) and about 10 miles from the Costa Mesa service center.
  2. Configured at $80,000 exactly - not a penny more. Risky?

Very good point. I was confusing things...I was trying to both use the PBA and not exceed the $80k. Income limits blow me & most of us out of the water either way, so presumably a moot point. FWIW, my concern was less about the verbiage (I understood $80,000.00 was eligible), and more about...
  3. Configured at $80,000 exactly - not a penny more. Risky?

Long story short I know there are questions about how things will pan out in 2023 tax incentives, but for the purposes of finalizing my order I'm currently at EXACTLY $80,000.00 and signed the preorder agreement last year when it was offered by Rivian (put my reservation in April 2019). I'm...
  4. What are the longest lead time configurations for the R1S?

If hypothetically I didn’t want/need my car 1H 2023, which is my current estimate (though the site may provide better insights soon), but wanted to keep my LE configuration and pricing, how would I spec out my R1S to push delivery out further? For instance, insisting on Ocean Coast with white...
  5. 8-STEPS OPEN for R1S Delivery - It's finally happening!

I totally agree with you. The accelerationin our Polestar 2 and the Lightning is excessively fast even if it’s nowhere near the 2 or 3 second mark. The novelty of punching it wears off in a matter of days. I’ll still accelerate quickly at lights from time to time, but nothing like flooring it.
  6. 8-STEPS OPEN for R1S Delivery - It's finally happening!

Great news! How does this line up relative to your most recent delivery estimate (when they provided them a few months back)?
  7. What are the chances the changes to OC and Explore might speed up delivery date estimates?

That’s kind of my hope for myself and others who have been on this journey for 3+ years and don’t have anything out of pattern from a location and build perspective. I guess we’ll see.
  8. What are the chances the changes to OC and Explore might speed up delivery date estimates?

I was surprised that, being an April 2019 R1S LE preorder holder that lives a few miles from the Irvine HQ, I’m out at 1H 2023 for my delivery estimate. Has there been any discussion that I’ve missed around expectations that they might speed things up materially with these changes? Any thoughts?
  9. $0.01 kWh home electricity rate

Right here a few posts up. Daytime isn’t terrible, but people running the AC in the evening to cool down the house aren’t super thrilled. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/0-01-kwh-home-electricity-rate.7132/post-182058
  10. $0.01 kWh home electricity rate

At least you get a few hours of peak sun for those who have solar. SCE in SoCal now has peak structured in such a way that if you have solar most of your generation is off peak, and peak is when you aren’t producing. California really doesn’t give two sh!ts about jacking costs up to levels that...
  11. 2022 Rivian R1T vs. F-150 Lightning : The Closest Finish in Motortrend History

As I understand it, Geely did indeed purchase Volvo in 2010, effectively throwing them a lifeline when their back was against the wall after that Global Financial Crisis hit. I’m not sure they were as bad off as Saab, but they were struggling. Along with the acquisition they provided them a ton...
  12. 2022 Rivian R1T vs. F-150 Lightning : The Closest Finish in Motortrend History

As a first time truck owner (Lightning Platinum) and R1S reservation holder since April '19 I'm trying to take an objective look at this, and not as a "Ford" guy just because it happened to arrive first (it's my first Ford/domestic). Still super pumped and excited for the R1S. I'm also...
  13. $0.01 kWh home electricity rate

That’s why I moved to domestic rate with SoCal Edison when the punted me from my NEM 1.0. No TOU to deal with - just pure net in/net out.
  14. Tax Credit Changes in new bill [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS & ARGUING]

Not if it’s an extended range Lariat or the Platinum…both are too expensive so Ford isn’t likely thrilled. The same person who wants a nice Rivian might want a more well optioned and longer range Lightning and they are SOL. Got mine on Saturday I’m happier than a pig in $hit - absolutely love...
  15. Tax Credit Changes in new bill [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS & ARGUING]

I live in SoCal and I get it. $300k *could* be practically paycheck to paycheck without making any extravagant lifestyle choices. At the same time, there is no shortage of luxury cars with no incentives, or people optioning up lower priced cars, wherever I’m out on the road. I may be wrong, but...
  16. Tax Credit Changes in new bill [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS & ARGUING]

W2 tax donkeys don't have that option...we just need to suck it up and pay the man.
  17. Tax Credit Changes in new bill [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS & ARGUING]

I guess a lot of people here will be kissing that tax credit goodbye in 2023. Glad I received my Lightning here in 2022 as I think the current rules apply. On one hand it's a bummer that the income limit is where it is, but on the other hand if you're in the higher income brackets I don't...
  18. 1,260 Days Later…

Congrats! Love the yellow. Wishing you many great adventures with it. The wait for my April ā€˜19 deposit R1S continues through 1H 2023 for now, but after seeing it at the Venice hub this week my enthusiasm for Rivian is definitely back.
  19. Volvo, Mercedes and now BMW going Android Automotive

I feel like my experience has been so different in the Polestar. The TCAM issues are well documented, but overall Android Automotive has been great for me.
  20. Volvo, Mercedes and now BMW going Android Automotive

Absolutely love Android Automotive in my Polestar - voice controls are so natural and everything just feels seamless. Funny thing is that the CarPlay update came last night for me, and I used it today on my way to Venice to check out the R1S, and I found myself missing the native Android...
