  1. Can't select past 30 amp charge rate w/ Ford Charge Station Pro

@coulomb I've got the same setup. I have my Charge Station Pro dial set to 6 (64 amps), and I have had no problem charging the Rivian at 48 amps, and the Lightning at 64amps for the past year. I didn't want to set it to 7 (80 amps) because some people have reported the charger overheating in...
  2. So this is... Nirvana?

Wow, there needs to be a warning before loading this image. Almost hurled. But I have to admit it's an impressive attempt to out-ugly the cybertruck.
  3. GPS position "jumping" around...

Me too, I've had this "gps bounce" and reroute when coming to stop since day 1 on my R1T. Very annoying, so I make a point of checking the directions before coming to a stop.
  4. EVgo Charger at Pilot Flying J almost open! (Knoxville, TN)

Glad to see some covered canopy charging options finally coming online!
  5. All Purpose Mode surprise

They're both stupid fast. The Rivian is slightly more stupider. :)
  6. 48A vs. 40A for home charging??

If you can, it's better (safer) to hardwire a charger. If that's not possible in your case, then make sure you're using a good quality 240V outlet that's rated to handle the load of an EV charger. Many regular dryer outlets aren't designed to handle that kind of load. Just my $0.02...
  7. ABRP 4.5.0. gets a major upgrade

Click on that blue circular button. Then it will calculate the actual route including any charging stops. :)
  8. Roll-n-lock retractable tonneau - not coming for Rivian

I'm with you. I was thinking their cover would have worked really well for the R1T. I have a Roll-N-Lock on my Lightning and it's great. I was really hoping it would be available for our R1T. From the dimensions of their Maverick tonneau it should almost fit in the R1T's empty space where the...
  9. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

Wow, that's a bit cynical. I was just sharing what we found. We're huge fans of the R1T and the Lightning. Both Rivian and Ford knocked it out of the park with their first EV trucks. The R1T has gorgeous styling inside and out, and it has a wonderfully nimble and sporty driving feel. The...
  10. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

This is the update I received. Seems to work well for me.
  11. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

For the Lightning, I saw 2.2-2.4 miles/kwh going 65mph-75mph highway, and 2.7-3.2 miles/kwh local (55mph and less). That 3.2 mi/kwh was me being very laid back and not goosing the throttle at all despite the temptation - plus the truck does a great job on regen during stop and go traffic. So...
  12. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

Ford put out an update in June to address fast charging problems. I happened to get it just before our road trip. I wonder if that's why I didn't find any issue with the Lightning's charging curve - I was actually impressed with how well it charged. Agree with you on towing. Can't wait for...
  13. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

In terms of charging time, based on our experience they're almost identical going from the 15%-80%. The Rivian peaks higher, but the Lightning maintains a high rate of charge longer. But after 80%, the Lightning's charging rate drops faster than the Rivian. Range is about the same too. BUT that...
  14. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

Warning, this is wordy so... TL;DR: We've found that both the Rivian and the Lightning are fantastic trucks for our day to day use, and they're a lot of fun to drive. But our family prefers the Lightning when it comes to road trips. Highway efficiency of the Lightning was better than expected...
  15. HELP Charging with generator

Another thing to check how many amps your truck is set to charge at. On the charging screen, I'd turn it down to around 20amps for this generator.
  16. What'd you name / nickname your Rivian?

I polled the internets. Oddly enough the consensus seems to be "Trucky McTruckface".
  17. Only Charging at half speed

I think it's because some EVgo chargers are not setup to deliver their rated charge rates. I just did a road trip and stopped at two different EVgo sites and saw very different charge rates. Site 1 was at a Wawa and had 2 chargers with each rated at 200kW. Even though no one else was using...
  18. Steering wheel noise when extending/telescoping

Yeah, mine too. Seems like a pretty lame attempt at Tesla's fart mode. It's super annoying, but still not quite enough to having to deal with driving to the Brooklyn SC to get it fixed.
  19. Rivian Driver+ places #8 in Consumer Reports 2023 Driver Assistance Rankings

I've had a chance to spend time with Ford's Bluecruise and Rivian's Driver+ for a few months. On highways, here in NJ anyway, I find Bluecruise is much better. Driver+ disengages way too much to be usable. And I also like that Bluecruise lets you go handsfree when you want. But for stop and go...
