The magic dock is dead. Just an experiment. Lucids and Hyundais have had trouble charging on them. Tesla's closed ecosystem was relatively easy. It's making Fords, GMs, Rivians and all the others that will be forthcoming work properly....that will be the challenge.
You always have Chargepoint, EVgo and many others if SC pricing is
Does it matter? It makes your Rivian more valuable because you can go more places far easier. That's easily worth $500 to me but I don't care what it cost. I'm buying on day 1.
OEMs can't sell direct in the state, prohibits no-haggle pricing, dealers get 8% of any OTA subscriptions for two years (for which the dealer does nothing)....wow, money talks and common sense walks!
Exactly. There's no choice in the matter. Stellantis comments yesterday pretty much confirms they will join GM and Ford. So Rivian would be the only US truck maker to stay with CCS? Not competitive. There's a chance Tesla may slow roll Rivian access to the SCs due to the lawsuit.
I believe Ford is using their own ap. The billing goes to Ford but I'm guessing Tesla gets a cut by way of a higher charge rate....which I think is fair.
I don't agree. I own a Tesla along with the R1T. Anything that spurs EV adoption is a positive. Everyday Tesla adds more SCs in North America. This will just accelerate.
How much money? Are you kidding? Just look at Tesla's stock movement since Farley announced and you'll find your answer.
I think EVGo, Chargepoint and EA will want to add NACS to their chargers assuming an agreement is reached with Tesla. What choice do they have? IMO they are sucking wind and don't have the space to be cautious. Expect Stellantis and Hyundai will soon announce the same. VW....not so sure.
I'm guessing Hyundai will be the next OEM to follow Ford. Once a second and third OEM moves toward NACS, it will be ballgame. Look for GM and VW to be last, if ever.
