My initial (smart-a$$) reaction is that you won't find specific language in the law that says " ... and there is no restriction for taxpayer's modified adjusted gross income." Nor will you find specific language stating no restriction based on eye color at birth .... or whether your mother was...
At some point, exasperation kicks in and you cut your losses.
But with a contract signed prior to 8/16/22, you (and I) qualify for the full $7500 under the pre-IRA rules. The so-called transition rule spells it out clearly. Below is an excerpt from the Federal Register of the United States...
Which revision (of the instructions)? Excellent question! I used the revision that Rivian quoted in its 3/8/2023 email to us (or a very similar revision). I used the revision that was available on IRS.gov in December 2023. But the revision I used (which was current on the date I mailed my...
REQUEST: I'm seeking an archived copy of the 2023 Form 8936 instructions which include the sentence: "Taxpayers who took delivery in 2023 or after must use August 15, 2022 as the date placed in service when filling out form 8936."
The email that Rivian sent us in March of '23 said that...
Hyundai I5's can definitely charge at Magic Dock locations (Illinois has 1 at the southern tip of the state) using the Tesla app. If it's also possible with an A2Z adapter, then I obviously haven't been paying attention. Tesla's website says that (to date) Ford and Rivian are the only...
IRS received my amended 2022 return 1/4/24 and sent me a denial letter dated 7/15/24. (I signed a hard copy of Rivian's binding contract on 8/10/22 and saved it in my files, so I should be grandfathered into the old rules.) Here's what the denial letter says:
We can't process your claim for...
A) I took delivery of an Ioniq 5 in February of 2022. According to Hyundai, access to Superchargers is planned for Q1 2025. And "Hyundai will offer an adapter" ... but not gratis, as far as I know.
B) Be thankful that Rivians are currently allowed to use (some) superchargers, even if you have...
I am thankful that Rivian+Tesla allows us to use 3rd party adapters (like my A2Z). The slow roll-out of the official adapters is more of an amusing sideshow rather than a frustration.
Maybe they'll do a trade-in deal. Rivian gets your old speaker (which you never used) plus $75 (processing, shipping, etc.). You get the new OEM drawer. You're happy. Then Rivian sells your old speaker for $450 to someone who actually wants one. Win. Win.
That's encouraging ... and discouraging at the same time. I've started feeling anxious because it's been 20 weeks since IRS received my 2022 amended return.
My revised schedule: I'll wait until the 6-year anniversary of my $1000 reservation (Feb. 2025) before I call the IRS. My Rivian...
Please help me understand how the rework (and efficiency updates) during shutdown will change revenue, parts and labor such that the R1 contribution margin will change from negative to positive.
Exactly. By what logic should thousands of R1T owners get their free adapters before the very first R1S customers (not counting RJ and Claire) get any? If the difference is just a few days (receiving the free adapter), it's not worth quibbling about.
I find it odd that the list of revisions listed on page 2 of the letter to NHTSA omits:
* removal of "Launch Edition" trim (letter L in position 8)
* addition of "Entry" trim (letter E in position 8)
Here's the Rev. 1.0 2025 VIN decoder submitted to NHTSA in a letter dated Feb. 9, 2024.
Yes, of course. By the time my A2Z arrives (1 month?) early adopters (with early adapters) will have posted their experiences on the internet. Any negative experience will likely go viral. I'll assess the risks after my A2Z arrives. Meanwhile, no harm no fire.
I was one of the first 6000 to...
If this were the case, could I improve my R1S Elevation by simply swapping to Meridian speakers purchased from a salvage yard?
Disclaimer: I have a 60 db hearing loss above 2k (not atypical for farmers my age or older). Hence, I'm the last person you should trust for a critique of audio...
"... so large castings are used throughout the structure," said Scaringe.
This is very encouraging. Look at how Tesla is using large castings to simplify the Model Y. It's not just Tesla ... the C8 Corvette is another example.
When I toured the Normal plant in December, I was really struck...
