I also came over from driving Tesla for the last 10 years. The Comma Open Pilot makes the R1 even better than the basic Tesla autopilot. Give it a try.
I just wanted to add that I am supper happy with the stock Comma 3x with standard Open Pilot. Coming from owning three different Tesla's in the last 10 years I was expecting similar lane keeping in my R1T. But unfortunately Rivian just doesn't support that on most of our roads.
It is definitely...
Would be nice if there was a map showing where it is available. I had good intentions of mapping my last trip to Vancouver but gave up after a while. What I learned is that it disables approaching wildlife overpasses, any crossing roads or loss of road lines.
A follow up on my last Calgary Vancouver trip with the comma 3X/Open Pilot this week.
I was able to keep it engaged for the whole drive. Really made the trip more relaxing.
I like it better than Tesla autopilot or FSD on the highway. Would highly recommend it to anyone who does longer road trips.
Replying to the original post. Really appreciate you taking the time to write it up. I just got mine last week. I love it. I'm a previous Tesla owner for over 10 years and three different Teslas. I used regular Tesla Autopilot and FSD a lot. I often drive 700 mile trips and Rivian only allowed...
I recently hooked up a 12v battery monitor on my R1T to see how it keeps the 12v charged when not in use. For comparison, I'm also showing our Outlander PHEV charging schedule while parked. Very interesting to see how different the 12v charging schedules are between the two vehicles.
Just thought I'd share my experience driving from Calgary to Vancouver via Kamloops. Highway assist is not available from the top of descent into Field BC until Kamloops. So about 426 km without assist. It also disables as you approach the wildlife bridges, crossing roads or worn out lane...
I like to be able to put my aero covers on and off depending on the type of driving I plan on doing.
After I put the centre cap in I realized the usual suction cup method of pulling them off would not work with the raised emblem.
This is what I figured out for easy no damage removal:
Unfortunately where I live they use small gravel on the roads instead of sand for traction control. Most cars here have cracked windshields. I do not tailgate but you can't avoid cars that cut across your lanes in front of you and pick up the rocks that have settled between lanes. Model 3 was...
Just did a winter road trip from Vancouver to Calgary. I used the Tesla Superchargers with the NACS adapter and Tesla App. No issues. Would only take about ten seconds to handshake before starting to charge. Didn't really notice much of a time difference from doing the same trip with the Model...
Just following up in case anyone else needs an inspection. I had it done at L.A.D.'s Auto 3832 16 ST SE Calgary, Alberta.
No issues. Didn't take long. Very friendly owner. He took me around the shop and told me a bit about the company history.
No. They just told me that the service centre here does not do the inspections even though I asked if they recommended someone.
I've found one shop that specifically says they do EV trucks. So will try them.
Hi, first post here.
Will be bringing in an out of Province R1T. Just wondering if anyone else has done that in Calgary and if you can recommend an inspection facility?
Always nervous to bring an EV to a shop that might not know about the jack points.
