  1. Update 2025.06 is out!

I still haven't received the update. I'm wondering if this is a Canada thing, or there just something wrong with either my R1S or my iPhone app.
  2. Apple Music - Don't use Sound Check.

My biggest gripe with the Rivian Apple Music app is that I get "Internet Unavailable" after 3-4 songs. I could care less about the sound quality. The app just doesn't work.
  3. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

I'm coming from a BMW X3 mind you, so I'm getting used to maneuvering the larger vehicle. That said, I found my buddy's Hummer EV easier to maneuver to in tight spots (aka - parkades) ... so yes, the rear wheel steer would be a welcome upgrade, though I totally appreciate that it would add...
  4. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

After a month of owning an R1S, here are the things that need improvement. #1 - Carplay ... the Apple Music app is complete trash. It will play a few songs, then give a No Internet message, and I have to switch to using Apple Music through a bluetooth connection. Unacceptable. Fix this. #2 - 3rd...
  5. Canadian Price Increased

Yep - personally, aside from the price of goods going up, I think it would be better to be small and nimble. R1S and R1T are basically luxury vehicle purchases for niche buyers here in Canada sold in only two provinces (that I know of) ... BC and Ontario. Those that want one, will pay for it...
  6. Canadian Price Increased

The US president is promising to escalate tariffs even more if/when Canada retaliates. He's going to burn the North American car industry to the ground, and drive the entire continent into a recession.
  7. Canadian Price Increased

That's not just going to be isolated to Rivian. These tariffs are going to raise the price for all US manufacturer (GM, Ford, Stellantis Rivian, Tesla) vehicles, with Tesla in line for 100% increases.
  8. Canadian Price Increased

Luxury tax is a provincial tax (it's a tiered add on to our PST).
  9. Canadian Price Increased

Honestly, it's not so much the MSRP that bothers me ... it's our stupid tax. The so-called "luxury tax" is such a deterrent to buying a more upscale trim. In BC, the PST goes from 10 to 15% on vehicles over $125K, and from 15 to 20% on vehicles over $150K. AND you pay GST on the combined total...
  10. Canadian Price Increased

If they had the option to lease, I suspect that these would have been sold already. They should drive them 100 km and then sell them to a wholesaler, so they can properly sold as used vehicles.
  11. Canadian Price Increased

They are hardly appealing ... they're 2023 models which you have to pay GST and PST on. They depreciate 2 years the moment you drive it off the lot. And they also went up in price.
  12. Snow Mode fail - costly result

What kind of tires do you have on in this video?
  13. Snow Mode fail - costly result

I prefer the bigger sidewall of the 20 inch tires.
  14. Large Volume Increase With Apple Music When Entering

Same - sound check is off. I'm thinking about turning off the dynamic volume, though haven't tried this yet. I did experience the same issue of the volume going up to 17 when I entered the vehicle.
  15. Large Volume Increase With Apple Music When Entering

Same here - I started noticing this yesterday. My daughter was asleep on the drive home last night, so I had the volume at 2. This morning upon entering the car, the volume was 10+. At least I'm not getting the "No internet" glitch. So progress ...
  16. Snow Mode fail - costly result

I'm disappointed to hear that the all-terrain Pirreli's are not great in the snow, despite being 3 peak mountain snowflake rated. I just got them, and am having them installed on Friday. Oh well - they'll look a lot cooler than the 22 inch range wheels for three seasons, and will do in a...
  17. Massive Price Hikes coming Feb 25th, up to $10,000 because of exchange rates.

We do pay a lot more on the big ticket items though (e.g. house and cars) ... it's shocking to see how low the lease prices for cars are in the US.
  18. Massive Price Hikes coming Feb 25th, up to $10,000 because of exchange rates.

Fortunately, the Liberals have backtracked on the capital gains tax hike (for now). How did you find real estate prices in California by comparison to Vancouver? I think for Canadians, their mortgage is where the majority of their income disappears to. We are not able to deduct the interest...
  19. Massive Price Hikes coming Feb 25th, up to $10,000 because of exchange rates.

We can definitely do that, and it is actually much cheaper to buy and import a used Rivian in the States, using a third party broker, versus buying a used Rivian in Canada. That is true of pretty much all EVs. There is GST due (which you do not have to pay for a used car in Canada) + brokerage...
