This is a nuisance for sure, but not unique to Rivian. Both my Tesla and (especially) my Jeep Wrangler have the exact same issue. The Rivian, like my Jeep, will probably suffer more by nature of the flat face. I've found aftermarket heating elements for the Wrangler, but have yet to install...
The computer 'problem' isn't just EVs.. at least not according to all these salesmen that keep pushing extended warranties at me because "that Jeep has 14 computers in it.. do you know how to service those!?"
For the Rivian service schedules I haven't seen anything, but that doesn't surprise me...
You haven't looked very hard, then. The are countless articles and forum write-ups for people with 100k+ miles that have broken down their actual cost comparisons. I've owned 3 EVs now (2 Teslas and R1T) and driven more than 100k in then myself. My maintenance has included wipers and tires.
Regarding the factory pricing, I can tell you from my invoice that a single 20" wheel and tire is exactly $1,000. In total, adding the spare tire post-delivery is costing me nearly double what it would have if I'd added it to the original config. All together it's just over $1400 (including misc...
Wow, quite the thread here. I'm an Android user and just don't let any of my apps turn connections on themselves, so killing Bluetooth (or just powering off) solves the issue. I'd also never dream of leaving my phone (as a key or otherwise) in my vehicle, and certainly not powered on if I did...
I'll scratch that itch for you. Small little creek crossing. My right front wheel is dropped into the ditch here, which is why that front left looks so squatted.
That's tough.. great tunnel is sweet, but I think it's just the overall execution. I've owned 2 Tesla's (S & 3), And I don't have much bad to say about them.. Loved my model 3 in fact, but materials choices and fit and finish are definitely superior in the Rivian.
Re the cruise control going away entirely: Tesla does the same thing. I honestly think it's a safety based decision. As much as I'd also appreciate a graceful reduction in capability, imagine all the accidents from people that are so used to the vehicle auto-braking.. Until it doesn't.
Pre-ordered on 9/19/19. I'm planning to wait until late 2021/early-22 regardless of place in line though, so not overly concerned with my place in line.
