for the nerds out there... and aren't we all - here's the raw footage of the RAN Launch event in Salida. Speakers include Diane French Rivian Employee, Dan Shore (current Salida Mayor), PT Wood (former mayor of Salida), and Trent Warnke (Senior Director, Energy and Charging - Rivian)
Hi all, just finished up the Salida launch event. Internet and cell was terrible so I couldn’t get more than this vid up. Charged up on the charger too! More to come!!
you know what is funny is that we didn't really have a chance to enjoy the scenery, or at least we were distracted with the mechanical issue. We'll have to go back.
Heya Rivian fans! So, a couple of days ago my very own Rocky the Rivian got the chance to beat the pants off of the Lightning in a drag race! Andre at TFL Truck reached out and challenged me to a dual, except that he drove it himself. :)
They also let me use the track for a while and do my...
Thanks for the kind words! I didn't notice any drag (or even excess wind noise). I don't think any of the gear impacted the range much. I was careful to keep the items from protruding past the profile of the truck (except the bike standing up) and I think that helped.
Thanks - nice tip! Yeah, I want to re-distribute the bikes with two goals in mind: keep them all in one easy place; still have access to tailgate. So, that combo may work!
And, thanks for watching the vid and your kind works. I'm planning more videos just about bikes and the Rivian so stay...
Thanks!
Do you have a specific brand/model of foam pad you would recommend? We have a basic 4 inch air mattress and it was a pretty bad night's sleep. We wanted a topper of some kind.
The rack was removed from the pivot for recording. I'll reload them and take some photos. The answer is that you can't fully open the tail gate while the rack is on and closed. However, with the Kuat, the rack will pivot out of the way and the tail gate can be used as normal. It's pretty sweet...
The bunk beds take up a lot of space and weight, and we would have been fine with only one cooler. And, as per usual, half of that stuff didn't get used. It'll take a while to fine tune.
One user on YouTube asked if the Dometic fridge can be used in the frunk. Answer, yes, but it doesn't sit flat:
Also, you'd have to have the 12v adapter, which does exist but I didn't have with us. Never mind closing it off in a mostly-air-tight space. Not sure if it can function well like that.
Hey all - just a quick report on a camping trip from over the weekend. We went to a campground near Aspen, CO called Difficult Campground (https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/231880) and stayed for 3 nights. We had some friends along, and we ate in town a few times, so the food prep...
There was a fast charger in Flagstaff at a walmart a few miles away. Also a level 2 charger just across the highway. We used the fast charger.
The overnight drain was negligible, maybe 2-3 percent? (if that) I barely noticed.
Overland Expo was a boon for overloading ideas. No one had anything specific for the R1T (well, except Rivian and Snow Peak), but there were Rivian-related companies there, like the ProEagle Jacks, which Rivian uses for their service trucks. Here are my favorite ideas from the show:
