Opinion? Yes, as a secondary mounting point to the bed hooks. I'd put more pressure on the bed hooks and use the MOLLE panel to help facilitate holding it in place. I wouldn't crank on the ratchet straps but I'd feel comfortable tightening on it.

To match the strength of steel on this panel with aluminum we would have have to go with a thicker piece of aluminum, this would result in a higher cost and a higher production cost as aluminum is harder to cut vs steel. Between the cost and production costs and timelines we would be dealing...

Metal choice was done due to strength and cost. If we did aluminum at the same strength level the cost would be significantly higher. The powder coating also helps protect the panel from corrosion.
