  1. Thanks Rivian & Electrify America

Before Plug & Charge update, you’re right, initiating in app like Tesla or EA is necessary. Now you don’t. Just plug it in and walk away. I tested couple times successfully at both V3 and V4 Tesla superchargers but not at EA yet. When I do, I’ll report here.
  2. Thanks Rivian & Electrify America

Plug & Charge as implemented by Rivian and Hyundai is similar in that it uses the credit card info stored in respective apps. So memberships and other credit card options are ignored. But the beauty is that you never have to touch your phone at all. You plug it in and walk away. It doesn’t need...
  3. Autonomy+ / Driver+ Subscription How Much Will You Pay?

No, I don’t even want connect+ subscription. The way Rivian deploys streaming media sucks. iPhone+Bluetooth is way better and free. YouTubeMusic, Qobuz, Podcast and Libby — most important media for me on the go and none are supported by Rivian.
  4. Not charging on Tesla Gen2 Wall Connector after 2025.38 Update

No, scheduled charging fails to work after .38 update. When it’s scheduled to start my R1S gen2 will STOP charging with a red lightning symbol in app. I use Grisl-E mini charger and never experienced issues with scheduled charging before update.
  5. New R1S Dual Performance Max AT Range issues

I often travel to Maine on a one way 345 mile trip and when I got 2026 R1S dual max with 410 miles range I was hoping that I don’t have to make charging stop. I’m here to report that my first trip was a success. Here are stats: Range wheels with EPA 410 miles range. OEM Pirelli 22” tires at 45...
  6. Just fix the software

I have one question. Why every time you touch ridged spot to open charge door it opens. But when you touch dimple on door handle the result is unpredictable. Sometimes it unlock right away, sometimes it’ll delay for a while and sometimes it refuses to budge until you hit unlock in app.
  7. Rivian plans to build up to 175k R2 per year at Normal Plant (says RJ)

It’s time for Rivian to build hundreds of service centers! 1500 R2 share one service center, that’s 100 service centers.
  8. Random frunk opening???

Slightly off topic. These incidents have revealed a critical issue regarding Rivian’s manual opening capabilities for rear doors and hood. For a vehicle specially designed for off-roading, mechanical release is super important is case of electronic error and 12V failure.
  9. Random frunk opening???

When this happened car was unlocked. But it somehow reset itself after I parked in my garage and locked doors for couple of hours. It might’ve been confused just like you described. But I have been open hood using button with car unlocked and locked. I just did a test ant it functions normal
  10. Random frunk opening???

My 2026 R1S is only couple of weeks old. Today suddenly frunk button refused to open hood. I can use app to open and once opened, button closed it without issue. The button is just not responsive when you try to open hood. Performed infotainment two buttons reset but did not help. Anyone has had...
  11. How to Improve Your Sound System Without Measurement Equipment

My 2026 R1S premium sound sounds terrible. Since couple day after delivery software was upgraded to 34.30 I have no experience of sound quality previously. The provided equalization sliders do not improve but just give you different versions of ugly sounds. I ended up folding down 2nd and 3rd...
  12. Winter prep: How do you keep range loss under control? ❄️

Understood what you’re saying, not a big deal. But there’s something I feel mindlessly convenient with my habit when charge for departure works well. I usually set charge limit in summer at 60% and winter 80%. My daily usage is about 10%-40% battery charge. When I come home I just habitually...
  13. Winter prep: How do you keep range loss under control? ❄️

Had a Toyota RAV4 prime with surprisingly good charge for scheduled departure. Hyundai Ioniq 5 has departure setting but charge for departure does not work. I didn’t even check Rivian for this feature before I bought it. I thought Rivian is way ahead of others except for Tesla since it a...
  14. Whats your current Gen2 PreAudio set at?

Dip down a bit at 520, 2k, more bass and even rest of treble. Still sound bad. One speaker above right rear door rattles like crazy with volume anywhere above 18. Why this premium audio sounds so cheap? (2026 R1S dual max performance)
  15. Rivian Switching from Alexa to Google Gemini - Bringing Voice / Text Integration (reported by RivianTracker)

Both Apple and Rivian are going to utilize google Gemini AI cloud. Hope this might help Rivian to smooth out its media app implementation.
  16. Just fix the software

If it happens again try to flick gear stalk outwards to see if it cancels it.
  17. Just fix the software

Apple has app setting called background refresh. Rivian recommends to set it on which I did. But using PAAK iPhone as key has nevertheless been totally unpredictable and chaotic. My other experience is with Ioniq 5, totally predictable and reliable for 2.5 years so far. What Hyundai did is...
  18. R1S: home + proximity sensor + GPS = chaos

To make it more confusing… I also use at home lock only option and my Rivian shows my far away neighbor as my location of garage. But it works as intended: it locks itself at home, it never opens any door when I walk by with phone at home. But today a strange thing happened while I was at...
  19. R1 turn signals improvement suggestion - 2 extra & bike racks

I am new to Rivian. When I got my 2026 R1S I was immediately confused about turn signal stalk feel — a mushy difference between 3-click and engaged signal. I am used to a very crisp distinction between the two so I never have to guess which one I have currently chosen. In Rivian I was never sure...
  20. Rivian Switching from Alexa to Google Gemini - Bringing Voice / Text Integration (reported by RivianTracker)

Regarding AI eavesdropping, in the end it’s Electricity. If you can keep it out of your life, it’ll be difficult to collect your information. There’ll be the day when it’ll be as hard to keep AI out of your life as electrons. People usually are bothered by this one thing that spies on you but...
