I agree that Ford didn't put much thought into their Rivian ownership. Like I said before, Ford's problem is 'Ford'. I'm still in the stance that they will hold onto some of the shares. I know they're kicking themselves for not getting into that Tesla piece of pie back in the day (and we all...
Interesting. So they give up 7.44% of their shares in this 2nd round of sales. Them still owning 9.7% of Rivian's overall stock (87 million shares) is still an enormous amount of shares. I still don't think they'll dump it all, but at the same time I really don't care if they do. What I am more...
Also take into account that a R1T weighs over 7k lbs. Speed is limited to reduce the chances of blowing out those tires (which have even tighter regulations). That and well, it's a 7k+ lb death machine. They probably want to regulate the speed to further lessen the impact of outrageous accidents.
Already addressed this in both threads (read above) ;)
Btw, for those wondering. Despite Ford selling 7.8% of their shares, Rivian has still accumulated close to $17B (despite losing $1.5something billion). Black Rock, one of their main founders bought another $3B worth of shares, Capitol...
It could be an overflow (they may have over-topped the fluid, hence why it's spilling out), or it can be a legit leak. Definitely put in a call for Rivian to check that out.
Pardon, but I do not agree. Just because Ford ended the Lincoln collaboration (which was done before Ford even put any stake on Rivian's stocks), doesn't mean they didn't want a piece of that monetary action. Ford did profit off Rivian, it's just now Ford, Rivian, heck all of the stocks are...
Unless you have some inside information that 100% accurately states this, I'm in the belief that Ford will not sell all their shares. Too many people have that doom 'n' gloom mentality. Ford wants to blame Rivian, but they know majority of their issue is 'Ford'. Unless something drastic happens...
Your advisor misinformed you. Ford sold 8 million of its 102 million shares (7.8% of their total shares). Prior today, they had an overall 12% claim on Rivian's stakes.
Yep. Corrected in the other thread as well. 7.8% is still nothing in the grand scheme of things considering it's Ford. If this was Amazon or Blackrock and they were selling 10% or greater, then I'll worry.
Yep, you both are correct, it's 7.8%, which in the grand scheme of things is still small percentage. If it was something like 20% or greater, then I'd worry (not really. It's Ford, they have their own issues to worry about. If this was Amazon or Blackrock and they were selling off 10% or...
As mentioned in another thread, this is nothing and definitely a far cry from being considered a selling out. That's barely 0.08% of their owned shares. Were it something significant, I'd be concerned. But less than 1%? Pfft, not even worth dusting it off one's shoulder.
Meaningless or not, it's also a misleading header as people are going in with the psuedo-expectation of "Oh! What DId Rivian lie about?" and come to find out it wasn't Rivian at all.
That's barely 0.08% of Ford's shares. That's not "ouch" at all. So many others are making such a mountain out of this mole hill ?
JP Morgan's share sounds more impactful, but I don't recall how many shares overall they originally bought. If it's anything similar to what Ford did, that's another...
