  1. Can Tesla Keep Rivian Out

First, you can't get any money for something already built. Second, not a single Tesla Supercharger anywhere qualifies for NEVI funding at this time. Third, NY hasn't even started taking proposals for NEVI funding. Fourth, not a single cent of NEVI funds has been granted to anyone by any state...
  2. POLL: Would you like Rivian to adopt NACS Tesla charging standard?

The Taycan, unless equipped with the 150kW DC-DC, and Lucid Air can't charge above 50kW either, and they are allowed at MagicDock locations. I can't imagine GM is going to say all existing GM EV owners get an adapter, except you lowly Bolt owners. (There are also plenty of old Model Ss still...
  3. Can Tesla Keep Rivian Out

You're assuming that Tesla is going to apply for any NEVI funding. I've seen no evidence that they are. (They haven't put their name in the hat for any of the Oregon NEVI funding yet.) And even if they did, they would only have to open the ones that were funded by NEVI, not the whole network.
  4. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

No, it just means that they have to have their own cable. There are already charging providers that have a NACS connector on the end of their own cables, some of them are pretty bad, like this one: The NACS spec really only covers the "mating" portion of the connector. Everything beyond that...
  5. POLL: Would you like Rivian to adopt NACS Tesla charging standard?

Huh? What misinformation? Here is what I said: Which seems to line up exactly with the rule that you quoted: You said "swipe a credit card"; swiping is not contactless.. They specifically call it out as a contact-based method that is not required, but states are free to add that requirement...
  6. POLL: Would you like Rivian to adopt NACS Tesla charging standard?

CCS doesn't support V2x yet either... Ford is using their own non-standard implementation, because the CCS committee can't get their act together and come to an agreement as to how to implement it.
  7. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

Shorter is part of it. But Tesla pushes ~700A through their V3 cables, while the CCS cables/spec are pretty much limited to 500A. Tesla has shown their V4 cables will be even thinner and provide more power handling capability, 1MW+. Note: At this point I don't think that their cables are part...
  8. Can Tesla Keep Rivian Out

There is already no NEVI funding for chargers that don't have a CCS connector... The only way to get NEVI funding for NACS is when it is paired with a CCS connector on the same charger. (Which it has been that way from the start, nothing has changed.)
  9. POLL: Would you like Rivian to adopt NACS Tesla charging standard?

That isn't my understanding. The CEO pretty much said there would be an adapter so they could use CCS on the new NACS enabled vehicles. Though some other Ford employee said that it was possible that they could provide both ports. (But that would really be silly as it would cost significantly...
  10. POLL: Would you like Rivian to adopt NACS Tesla charging standard?

No, the NEVI funding doesn't require the ability to swipe a credit card. But you are correct that you have to be able to use it without an app. (Which could be calling a toll-free number to activate charging or activating via a web site either on your phone or on-site kiosk.) Interesting that...
  11. Can Tesla Keep Rivian Out

I would think they can. And likely will, at least until Tesla's lawsuit against Rivian for IP theft is resolved.
  12. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

But he won't control 100% of the NACS charging infrastructure. There are a number of CPOs, and suppliers, that have recently announced that they will be supporting NACS: ABB, AmpUp, Autel, Blink, Circuit électrique, EverCharge, EVgo, EVPassport, FLO, and FreeWire. (More will likely announce...
  13. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

No, they didn't. A total of 7,500 charging spots, but only 3,500 of them will be CCS/DC fast chargers. The other 4,000 will be AC L2, i.e. J1772, not CCS. Here is the actual verbiage:
  14. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

That is just reiterating the policy the way it has always been. Tesla could always get money if they installed CCS and NACS paired. (And meet all the other requirements.) No, there are no licensing fees for putting a NACS connector on a charger or inlet on a vehicle. I'm pretty sure he said...
  15. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

Well EVgo has had NACS available for a long time via a built-in CHAdeMO adapter. And EVpassport seems to be saying they have some 95kW NACS/CCS chargers installed:
  16. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

While they haven't started yet, in the last few days many have announced that they will start "soon": AmpUp, Blink, EVpassport, FreeWire, FLO, EVgo, and ABB. (Well ABB isn't a CPO, they just provide the equipment for CPOs like EA.) There will likely be more announcements made at EVS36, which is...
  17. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

Out of Spec says that the feds/states needs to pull the brakes on the NEVI funding and switch the rules so that only NACS chargers gets access to the funding: And it sounds like he has heard from a lot of the people in the industry that appear to be planning to make the switch.
  18. GM adopts Tesla's NACS standard! Munro begs Rivian to switch

So, you've changed your mind! Good job, I agree with this. Tesla already has tens of thousands. (Yes, barely and not all available to Ford/GM at this time.) They are planning to have ~50k Superchargers in North America by the end of next year. But Tesla doesn't have to do it alone, there are a...
