  1. R3X First Impressions - Design & Quality

We would buy one tomorrow if it was available. My wife is not super comfortable driving the R1S given its size but the R3 is a perfect compliment to the R1S - and we could finally get rid of her Subaru!
  2. R1S Quad: Yellow Silicone Hook Covers - Which One? ☝️

Actually, just lucky timing on the picture! I had my hazards on because i was running into our favorite donut shop near Wrigley. It does look cool though and picks up the yellow from the tow hooks nicely.
  3. R1S Quad: Yellow Silicone Hook Covers - Which One? ☝️

I have the yellow from AO and have been pretty happy with them. I get quite a few compliments on them and they have held up well and stay on. A very minor critique but you can see the slits in them on the inside but I suppose there is no avoiding that. Also, the yellow get quite dirty. I...
  4. Restrooms @ charging stations

We just completed our first long trip from Chicago to northern Michigan and back. Charging was easy and seamless. We were pleasantly surprised to find several fast charging sites in the parking lots of Culver's (a family favorite - if you're not from the midwest you won't understand). I was...
  5. R3 lower price and smaller than R2 (5" shorter wheelbase). R3X is wider than R3

The R3 is a home run. Better than the R2, they should produce it first.
  6. R1T All Weather Mats - (Already Claimed - sorry)

So I spend the first few weeks wondering why I couldn't get my all-weather mats to fit in the second row of my R1S. I finally realized that there are different mats and I must have ordered and/or was sent R1T mats. I messaged Rivian because I thought even if I accidentally ordered the R1T mats...
  7. Loud wind noise in cabin

I had extreme wind noise from around the driver's side door at speeds above 60. Sounded like the window was open. I took it in for service and as I was explaining the situation the tech looked at the door and I could see a large gap at the top of the door that he was checking out. They fixed it...
  8. Advice on Minor (Comestic) Damage to R1S

A few years ago, my wife drove our Audi Q7 into the side of the garage, all cosmetic but scraped down the passenger side. We live in the city so I decided not to fix it. Once you make that decision not to fix cosmetic damage, it's incredibly liberating. I don't care where I park. Only spot at...
  9. Charging in Extreme Cold

Clearly not just a Rivian issue https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/dead-teslas-oak-brook.amp
  10. Keycard only for drivers side

The bigger issue I have is if my wife, with her card/phone gets to the vehicle first it's thinks she's driving and by the time I go around, I get my knees crushed.
  11. "Park brake performance reduced on steep grades" -- new since 2023.50.01?

Fair enough. Although I feel like if i'm on ice skates and my dog's on ice skates we're both going to be sliding. Now maybe if we both weighed 7000lbs i'd notice the difference.
  12. "Park brake performance reduced on steep grades" -- new since 2023.50.01?

Thanks. That's what I thought. Now I'm wishing i had paid more attention in physics because while I can see the difference in sliding risk with 2 wheels locked vs. 4 it seems marginal.
  13. "Park brake performance reduced on steep grades" -- new since 2023.50.01?

a bit confused here but is the risk of the vehicle sliding or rolling?
  14. Rivian named Best Luxury Brand 2024 by U.S. News ? ?

Wow, 57 posts about whether Rivian is an "luxury" brand. Shouldn't you all be out off-roading or something?
  15. For all the people wanting CarPlay... GM is dropping it

While I understand the desire to control the ecosystem, my initial experience with Rivian's nav system is that it is completely ineffective. Unlike Waze, it does not seem to have reliable real time traffic data and therefore has little value if you are commuting in an urban setting because of...
  16. Interesting, just published Rolling Stone article about the Tesla Cybertruck...

Not sure what one has to do with the other. GM sold a bunch of H2s (i meant the H2 not H3 although they were both pretty horrendous) but that doesn't mean that the vehicles weren't dumb to begin with. As Mencken said, nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American people.
  17. Interesting, just published Rolling Stone article about the Tesla Cybertruck...

It's interesting to me how many forums actually take the CT seriously. IMHO it's a gimmick, a bad joke. It's at best, the 21st century Delorean and at worst (and more likely) the 21st century H2.
  18. R1S Height

I'm a bit confused about how to gauge the height of the vehicle due to the air suspension. The official max height is listed as 77.3" (about 6' 9") - is that correct? Is that what everyone uses for judging clearance? Does that vary depending on the air suspension? Anyone having issues getting...
  19. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

Good to hear. I see a lot of discussion on this forum about snow tires and it surprised me. I also went with the 21" over the ATs for my quad because most of my driving is city/highway but also need to deal with Chicago winters. Although the Chicago winters are more about extreme cold than snow...
