This exactly. I traded a 2-year old RAM 1500 with numerous scratches, cracked windshield and interior bits falling apart from a mouse taking up residence in it. I asked my Rivian guide if they wanted me to show them the problems and they had no interest. Said it didn't matter and was going...
I'm working on a solution to this, too. Haven't found anything off the shelf yet. Am considering fashioning something from a waterproof furniture cover or similar. The problem is that the charger handle sticks out to the side making a small cover impossible. I wish it docked in the front like...
Probably sounds harsh. However, QA seems to be a real weakness for Rivian. My truck was delivered with flaws that became quickly apparent to me after driving it just a day or two. Nothing that prevents the operation of the vehicle, but also not acceptable on a $110k truck, heck on even a truck...
I'm 500 miles into my R1T and have similar (albeit different) issues. The vehicle sometimes makes my POS RAM 1500 look like a flawless diamond. But you know what? I still love this truck. I'm not an owner that considers myself part of a movement or in a club. The good just outweighs the bad and...
This is exactly right. Where I live, Tesla Model 3's have become very common cars for aging Boomers. And for good reason; low maintenance, cheap, comfortable enough, and no trips to terrifying midtown gas stations.
However, it's very easy for an aging brain to confuse a brake and gas pedal. In...
This might have been suggested already, but if the telemetry is all running off of the 12v battery, would a on/off switch for the 12v be a good "analog" solution for the drain? Particularly if you go on a trip and leave the car at the airport, just turn the 12v off and stop the drain?
It's really hard to exaggerate how thin the truck's body is. I bought it to replace a Ram and have so far not done any truck things with it as I'm worried it's going to be permanently disfigured loading and unloading. Love the car, but man, the skin it's made of tissue paper. Will probably end...
My dual motor has been great. Have owned it 2 months now. No problems at all. My main concern with the vehicle is the thin sheet metal. I've already accidentally dented it twice by just using my hand to close the tunnel doors. Worried that it's gonna collect a ton of dings over the years. But...
This may already be known, but it seems there are really two bluetooth connections from your phone to the car:
1) The "traditional" connection that you have in every other car, which lets you play music from your phone.
2) The Rivian app's bluetooth connection to the car. You can't use the app...
The gurgling, whining, buzzing, pumping sounds that this thing makes when you just walk by it are unsettling. I know it's just doing its thing, but it sure seems like it's putting miles on the parts just sitting in the garage. I have 3 other EVs and none of them do this. :)
You are right about BT...it comes back on every time you open the driver's door. WHY!? This makes no sense. Wifi remains off. I'd like to think that their developers are working at a much higher pay grade than I do, but this seems like bad coding to me...
This is absolutely true. Even with PAAK off at home, the truck still senses you walking near it with your phone and starts prepping for travel. It's a source of drain for sure. Probably not great for the moving parts either.
Hey, I'm in my second month of R1T ownership and think I finally might have the vampire drain problem figured out, at least in my case. My scenario and fix is below, though admittedly less scientific than other approaches.
TLDR: Turn off Bluetooth and WIFI in the truck. Turn off proximity at...
