Awesome! Also, for reference, the rear storage bin in the R1S is listed at 5.1 cu ft, so a little less than half of the space available in the front trunk.
Manufacturers don't just do cold weather testing once and call it done, they do it every year. I worked for a vehicle testing firm from 2002 -2009, we tested in Fairbanks, AK (Maricopa, AZ in the summers for warm weather testing) every year from October thru March for several vehicle...
November 2021. Originally ordered an R1T and was given the Q4 2022 delivery window in December, but I have since decided that the R1S is the better option for me, so I am guessing that lands me somewhere in 2H 2023, or even farther out given the 25K vehicle production estimates for this year.

Now that you mention it, I would have to agree, especially given that the overall width between the R1T and R1S is the same, and we already have confirmation that the space between the wheel wells in the R1T bed is just wide enough for a sheet of plywood or drywall.
Here are a couple tidbits about the R1S cargo area that I learned after talking to Rivian CS:
So it seems that if you opt for a two row configuration the cargo floor cover is extended at its current height, and you gain the space below the cover where the third row used to be. Meaning the...
From Rivian's website:
From posts I have seen from current owners of the R1T, they report average range of ~270 miles/charge on 20" A/Ts in All-Purpose mode at mostly highway speeds of 70-80 mph in cold but not freezing temperatures. And ~290 miles in Conserve mode with the same setup and...
Amazon's investment, as revealed in Rivian's SEC filings, totaled $1.345 billion, which translates to a 20% ownership stake in Rivian's stock. Ford, by comparison, contributed $800 million.
I was surprised by that too, the X doesn't seem as big as it actually is, probably in part to how much shorter in height it is compared to other 3-row suvs.
When Edmunds did their testing, Rivian gave them an R1T with 21" wheels with the off-road package. They hit 317 miles on their real-world range test, so I am guessing that the EPA numbers also reflect the same vehicle configuration with results that close.
Edmunds Rivian R1T Review
When I worked as a durability engineer for a different car manufacturer, I was under several NDAs about the vehicles I was working with and even owned personally that were made by that manufacturer, to the point that I was not allowed to say anything publicly that would place those vehicles...
This is right inline with Amazon's messaging provided in todays CNBC article on the topic:
“We always knew that our ambitious sustainability goals in our last mile operations would require multiple electric delivery van providers,” an Amazon spokesperson told CNBC in an email. “We continue to...
