  1. Best VIN to look for on Pre-Owned 22-23 R1T?

Good luck. It might help to broaden your search range as vehicles seem to be priced higher in California. I don't care about politics. I am only giving up my Teslas when they dead or I find something better. If I could only keep 1 of my cars/trucks it would be my Plaid hands down. My R1T is in...
  2. Rivian R1T Tri-Motor vs. Gen 1 Quad: My 10,000-Mile Owner Review

That is partly due to the smaller pack size. Did you regularly run your G1s in conserve mode when on the highway?
  3. Best VIN to look for on Pre-Owned 22-23 R1T?

That VIN should have the suspension updates. Rivian does like Tesla and incorporates continual refinement that doesn't always align with model year updates. I'd suggest using Autotempest to help you search. I set up a quick search for you based around LA (500 miles) for R1T's with less than 15k...
  4. Best VIN to look for on Pre-Owned 22-23 R1T?

They changed the welded subframe to cast somewhere in early 2023 from what I can tell. I used Xcare to get the extended warranty. You can only find it if your truck has under 10,000 miles. Mine is now covered until 2034 and 184k miles. If you have higher miles, 10yr 125k is about the best...
  5. Will you convert your R1 reservation into an order or are you reconsidering it?

I would say how quickly meaningful updates have been dropped for the G1. I am making a comparison with my Tesla ownership as an example. If the HW was such a limitation, they should have known it up front, and for a high-end vehicle maybe spent a bit more. They didn't even fully utilize what...
  6. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

A lot of BMWs recently have been so hideous, maybe not Cybetruck hideous, but enough that I think they started the trend of hideous higher-end cars. It absolutely prevented me from buying a lot of them. I couldn't get past how ugly the grill was. It was full stop and on to Audi, MB or Porsche...
  7. Rivian R1T Tri-Motor vs. Gen 1 Quad: My 10,000-Mile Owner Review

I get those points. I do think is fair to compare new and used as you do have a choice. I think it applies to any price point. Sometimes it makes more sense on an expensive one to buy used due to depreciation as you mentioned. Sometimes I've seen used go for more than new in some high demand...
  8. R1S vs Model X Review

I don't think many people are a fan of embedded videos just for clicks, especially without more context in the post. Personally I wish this forum, and all forums, would ban the practice. If someone can't take some time to even summarize it a little bit, why would I waste my time watching it...
  9. Rivian R1T Tri-Motor vs. Gen 1 Quad: My 10,000-Mile Owner Review

I am curious too. I went with Xcare for one of my Teslas and my Rivian.
  10. Best VIN to look for on Pre-Owned 22-23 R1T?

Mine was built March 2023. It has the updated suspension. The earlier ones have the Meridian sound system which many consider best. Mine has its replacement. Both are good and you might prefer one over the other depending on music type. I'd suggest mid March or later even if you lose the Merdian...
  11. Rivian R1T Tri-Motor vs. Gen 1 Quad: My 10,000-Mile Owner Review

That is great advice. I tell people the same thing. When I did the analysis, that was what I ended up doing. Yes, the G2s are better, but not 50%+ better. That is what the price delta would be. In the 60k range for a G1, you have 90% of what a G2 truck is with at least a 40% discount for a...
  12. Aidan Gomez Joins Rivian’s Board of Directors, Bringing AI Expertise

Wow, I can hardly wait. /s Don't get me another freaking chatbot. Do something actually useful with it for once. Tell me something I don't know about my vehicle such as predictive repair, optimizing efficiency or acceleration times at a level I can't easily do on my own. Or useful voice commands...
  13. Will you convert your R1 reservation into an order or are you reconsidering it?

I originally had a CT on order and was interested in an SUV as well. Tesla didn't have one, and the R2 seemed like a good option. I didn't buy the CT and bought an R1T, and I am now totally reconsidering my R2 purchase for a myriad of reasons. Rivian service is already stretched thin it seems...
  14. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

Just look for a Gen 1, dual large. It is almost as big as the max piack and you can pick them up in the mid to low 60's for a 2024 with low miles. A friend just did and it is a great truck. You are looking at 130 kWh vs 140. Won't make a difference for the vast majority of people.
  15. Hands Free Highway Driving Upgrade For Gen 1

As mentioned, spend the money and go with Comma.Ai. Absolute best purchase I made for my truck.
  16. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

I hear you. Practially how many vehicles have ranges of 500 miles? Why carry around the extra weight when you don't need it all the time? What I'd love to see is an easy to add range extender for when you need it that you could rent. This of course presupposes there is no charging...
  17. Custom Made Rivian R1T Truck Cap Topper (Autofitpro) Group Buy - Interested?

Hopefully people are noticing the poll option. At least we have 4 votes so far.
  18. Rivian buy back: what should my next vehicle be?

Tranny rebuild on a diesel Cayenee at 90k miles; 12k out of pocket. I grew up on diesels but once the emission controls with DEF became prevalent, I spent a small fortune on maintaining the emissions systems. Once they jacked the cost of diesel where it was more than gas, the finances didn't...
  19. Phantom / Vampire Drain Solution Works! Using 12v Battery Tender

It just becomes a habit and I have both cords next to each other so very simple to do. Here is the tender I am using. I'd say at least a 2 amp and I don't think the OBD port can handle more than 3 amps, so I just bought a 3 amp. The batteries are pretty small anyway. What a stupid design. Buy...
