Food for thought, thanks. Full size wheel+tire will easily be 60lbs or more. Pain either way. I wish Rivian would be better at providing their helpful customer service people with better information...
Apparently the recently become available compact spare tire only fits R1S and not R1T? Makes no sense.
Bummer. Though I can buy used 21" Rivian wheel plus tire on ebay, lifting it out from under the floor will be a pain.
Will Rivian create similar compact spare tire for R1T?
Forget about phone or email order, just go to nearest Rivian Service Center ask for parts department and order a set of 20" AT wheels plus TPMS sensors. I did so after phone / email BS. Also you need to order center wheel caps. (In gear shop they're listed as for 21", but they fit 20" fine...
Well said. Must have been same for early ICE car adopters. What bugs me is the lack of etiquette: nobody would pull up to gas station, stick hose into their car and go into the adjoining mall for 2 hours. Yet EV people seem to do that, and whatever fines EA may charge do not work. So annoying to...
I have now driven 500+ miles with my R1T on 20" Rivian AT wheels plus Nokian Hakkapaliita LT3 and love them. However, miles / KwH is 1.8 vs 2.25 on my 21" Summer tires. No big deal, but for longer trips I need to plan different charging strategy...
They are the same. i recently bought four 20" AT wheels from Rivian and was surprised that there were no center wheel caps so i tried the ones i had bought for my 21" wheels with the aero covers. Reason for that anal move is that perhaps i'll leave those covers off the 21" except for when making...
I had same BS. Then just drove to my nearest Rivian Service Center and they sold me set of 20' wheels + TPM sensors. Am actually going back to pick them up today. It seems that call center people and guides do not know about this option. Am getting Nokian LT3 winter tires. Bring on the snow!
Got same email, called and was offered a slot next week , but not at convenient time for me. Next appointment available December 28th but was told that this is not an urgent one?
You gotta love Rivian's startup culture which basically includes telling their customers what's best for them, regardless if that customer has a different opinion or if Rivian policy is evidently not feasible. At least they don't do it out of profit motive. I do believe they mean well - bless...
How long can they go on with this BS and shooting / burying employees? They're on a path to sell 50k+ cars per year, and the idea that anybody wanting to swap 21" summer tires for 20" winter tires would need to spend a whole day to visit a service center is not very smart nor practical?
