  1. Rivian Q3 2023 -- Production: 16,304 vehicles / Deliveries: 15,564 vehicles

Agree with this completely ... Tesla Then vs Rivian now (i.e., apples to apples in terms of production ramp from the start, and profitability in the early stages). Too often, and already within this thread, people look at Rivian’s numbers — deliveries and financials — then compare with what...
  2. Rivian Q3 2023 -- Production: 16,304 vehicles / Deliveries: 15,564 vehicles

People comparing Rivian at this stage with Tesla at this stage is like me asking why my kindergartener didn’t have a summer job and isn’t taking AP calc this Fall like the senior in high school down the road. It’s dumb. And even after all these years of production, quality at Tesla doesn’t...
  3. Winter Tires: Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT 275/65 R 20 126/123Q ordered. Experience / reviews?

No ... they've been great, and I'd still highly recommend. My plan all along was to have forged 20s made for use spring/summer/fall with proper all terrains, then use the 22s with winter tires for the cold/snowy months. The Contis were always meant to be stopgap and have served me well (over...
  4. Winter Tires: Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT 275/65 R 20 126/123Q ordered. Experience / reviews?

No 22-inch option for the LT3, so I went with Nokian's HakkaR5 SUV. I'll use them on the OE 22s in November and run that as a dedicated winter set up. I'm in Bend/Central Oregon. Next spring I'll swap out for set of custom forged 20s with all-terrains to run the other three seasons.
  5. Do you always carry keyfob or just keycard?

I tried phone as a key with key card in wallet as back up and no fob, but paak still sucks ... at least when it's in a pocket. If I walk up to my vehicle with the phone out, it's fairly response (little to no delay in unlocking). If I walk up to it with the phone in my back pocket, as I usually...
  6. List of compatible tires (for each Rivian factory wheel diameter)

My response was specific to the “add range hits” comment. If I didn’t quote it, I’ll go back and correct.
  7. List of compatible tires (for each Rivian factory wheel diameter)

Too many variables for this to be useful IMO. Not just between drivers/vehicles in different locations (environmental impacts) with different use cases, but even across the same driver/vehicle because day to day use can vary.
  8. List of compatible tires (for each Rivian factory wheel diameter)

Another data field that would be good is tire weight. Some of the Plus 1 sizes for 22-inch fitment are true all terrains and Load Range E ... but weigh as much as 20 lbs more per corner! That’s a lot of inspiring mass to add. So even though they match the 20-inch tire’s 34-inch size, they’re...
  9. List of compatible tires (for each Rivian factory wheel diameter)

Assume the Continental TerrainContact A/T in OE 22-inch size isn’t listed because you only used Discount Tire … but it’s a great tire and worth of being included.
  10. 22" recommendations?

I’ve posted about the Conti TerrainContatcts mutiple times. Pretty sure I’m the first R1T owner to mount them and have logged over 8000 miles (installed when my truck had just 400 miles on it). Would recommend.
  11. NEW Black Rhino 20" Forged Wheels on Rivian

In many circumstances, a shallower offset (higher number) is to account for a wider wheel width, or maybe to ensure brake clearance for a wheel design even with the same 8.5" width, or so a wider tire can be mounted safely (clear suspension components). Using a shallower offset on a wheel with...
  12. NEW Black Rhino 20" Forged Wheels on Rivian

I'd agree. Rivian (like Tesla) has a lot of owners for whom their R1 is just a "transportation appliance" ... something to go from A to B and be driven as intended (i.e., from the factory). And for a large majority, this is their first truck. Modifications aren't really a thought. For a number...
  13. R1T Under Rear Seat Cargo Covers & Dog / Pet Decks have lauched! New at EVSportine.com

Both of these. I had to stop using mine, as the dogs (even with "stay in place" dog beds) slid all over the place and it was super frustrating trying to access stuff in the cargo area, as it requires both seats be flipped up (plus it's heavy). Love the concept, and fitment is pretty spot on ...
  14. Rivian navigation on long trips

I've done a 3k mile trip and a 500 mile trip, with another 2500+ journey coming in October. I find it easiest (best) to preplan my route based charging stops, then navigate to each charger ... versus plugging my final destination into the in-vehicle NAV and letting it determine my stops. There's...
  15. Has anyone tried cheap eBay running boards?

It boggles my mind when people can spend $80k+ on a vehicle, then cheap out on what are arguable critical aftermarket parts (critical in the sense that mount points, construction, etc of running boards is important to the function and longevity). It's like people who pay $1400 for a new smart...
  16. NEW Black Rhino 20" Forged Wheels on Rivian

Wheel and tire fitment from the manufacturer have to account for a number of things, least of which are DOT/EPA regulations around how far out a tire can stick and requirements for running chains. The latter often affects ride height of a vehicle, and can result in a US-spec car being slightly...
  17. Blinker noise is annoying.

I quite like the unique sound, and encourage other automakers to be more creative. What I dislike is how the indicator sound becomes basically inaudible at speed. When stopped at an intersection/junction and signaling a turn ... the volume level is fine. When traveling at low speeds and...
  18. The @blinker.fluid El Cap Granite R1T delivery/spec/build/journal ...

?????? Look forward to hearing others’ feedback on these. FWIW, I did a tread depth check on mine (at 8000 miles) and the fronts are 25-28% worn while the rears are 22-25% (measured against new). Wear is nice and even front and rear. That mileage is a pretty solid 50/50 long highway trips...
