Someone mentioned Martian wheels as light weight efficient wheels. At 31 pounds, they'll be 5 pounds heavier than the (custom order) 20" wheels I'll be putting on my R1T. Weight of tire is more impactful than weight of the wheel, but it all has impact. The weight of the BFG AT T/A KO2 tires, @...
I'm an east coaster so my elevation range is somewhat muted compared to you in the Mountain or Pacific time zones. I do need to go up to the top of Reddish Knob so I can get my highest elevation over 4000 feet.
In your graph of efficiency, you stated before what most of the parameters were. I know with my previous electric vehicle I turned off climate control for max range, but I've got so much more range with my R1T that I'm lazy and leave it on. Still, a useful graph.
Only time I noticed a range loss on my R1T, was on a night when the outside temperatures was single digits, and I neglected to pre-heat the car (schedule departure) ahead of time. So the battery was very cold. If you pre-heat, your range is going to be less affected by the severe cold.
Tire pressure is supposed to be measured when COLD (seasonal cold, not absolute cold). If it is 45 psi, you are under pressurized. Tires warm up fairly quickly when driven, so you can not use the TPMS system to measure tire pressure. Also, because the tires do warm up, you will likely see "road"...
I thought the KO3's were OEM only for the Chevy EV pickups (or maybe it was Ford Lightnings?) still. Cool to see them on a Rivian. I gotta wonder how heavy they are compared to the KO2's. I have the KO2's (in 275/60R20 size) on my R1T right now, and they are seriously heavy tires.
Wish the top went up like a Westfalia, so you'd have a little more headroom at the pickup bed side of things. But, hey, I'm no longer a camper so to each their own.
I wish there were more color choices than the 3 you offer. I'm partial to the copper wheels I have on right now, and not ready to spend another few grand on lighter wheels (at least not this quarter).
Wanna see the AW01's on some Rivians. While you folk offer three different colors, I'd probably get mine powder coated a different color (more copper, less bronze)
Wire size does NOT determine what voltage can run across it. Wire size limits what AMPERAGE can run across it. A 6 gauge cable could do 12 volts, 120 volts, 240 volts, 1200 volts, or higher. The amperage at those volts would vary, depending on how many Watts you wanted. Watts = volts x amperage...
85 pounds for 21 wheel/tire combo? Sounds high. Rivian gear claims 79 pounds for the 21s. Per Tirerack the 21" Pirellis weigh 37 pounds, that would imply that the stock 21" wheel weighs in at 42 pounds. Now I'm really considering getting the Atomic wheels, the aw01 weighs 27 pounds, and a 20"...
