Jalopnik reached out to Rivian about the crash and received this (expected) reply:
UPDATE: We got a response from Rivian:
“A Rivian-owned prototype vehicle was involved in an accident near our Irvine facility yesterday. The Rivian employee at the wheel was uninjured, and the accident’s cause...
Absolutely. And people form their opinions based on those decisions, which is their right to do.
I don't have a horse in this fight. I only heard of TFL through a post on this forum. It seems some people do value their opinion, as amateur as it may be. Since that number of people is small...
I don’t think they are hiding anything but if you believe TFL should have been given an invite, it makes that question easy to raise.
Edited to be more accurate
Summary: TFL got snubbed by Rivian, reached out multiple times and never got a reply. They were not invited to the Breckenridge media event. TFL would like a customer to loan them an R1T for testing.
Not gonna lie, I love the FE interior and wood color. Love the calming sensation when looking at the pictures of it. But I like contrast between my interior and exterior, and it is not worth the extra $2k for me personally, so ??‍♂️
I really need to see this and forest green on the R1S. I don't trust those 2018 and 2019 forest green auto show pics, it is possible they are not exactly the same green (may have gotten tweaked since then).
Ultimately I am 75 percent Midnight.
It does sound crazy to me. Green on green, not the exact same greens either. I couldn't do it. I am OC interior and either midnight or forest green exterior (going for the contrast).
But isn't that the point? Who cares what I think if you like it; I won't be driving yours all day, you will be...
I would not buy a $70k ICE vehicle. While my income would allow a more expensive vehicle, my practice has been to buy a 4-5 year old used vehicle and drive into the ground. Last two vehicles were 2005 CR-V and 2010 Pilot, $12k and $17k purchase prices. Both are still running strong, CR-V about...
Shit. I am R1S Midnight res holder. Saw compass yellow, looks hot. Forest green looks regal. I am pulled hard by FG. I need to see Midnight and FG on the R1S side by side to decide I think. Ocean coast interior either way which works well I think.
Home (from MN, guessing I may be picking up from Normal IL, 6h drive). If I am lucky enough to pick up before end of winter, might take it on a snowboarding trip to WY, MT, or CO ( trips already planned, just depends on delivery date). Will potentially get to see how the R1S performs in the snow...
R1S reservation holder here. Snowboarding is my winter activity. I both fly and take road trips.
If the number of people in the car allows for one second row seat to be folded down, I keep the gear in the car. Otherwise I have a Yakima box I'll toss on the top (yes, aero hit with that, but I...
Without actually measuring the tire characteristics or doing a range test in identical conditions it will be hard to say. Though I do take the "super special super unique tire just for you!" with a grain of salt, personally. If it rides well enough, supports the load, and gives reasonable range...
Agree, fully rated tire would be nice. Definitely looking to hear the experience of others. In the end, as a non-LE R1S reservation holder I pay a $1800 premium for a better quality and *maybe* lighter forged rim that looks better for me, and hopefully with a non-AT lighter tire with less...
