I have a version 2 in my garage and it can be configured to Tesla only or all EVs. The default is for all EVs and it has stayed that way through each firmware update. I've never had to change it and it charges my Rivian just fine.
Sometimes I wonder about all the hyperbolic statements about Tesla Superchargers always being full and the long waits. I just changed to Rivian after 5 years of Tesla. Drove across the country and back twice (literally from the furthest NW point, Cape Flattery, to the furthest SE point, Key...
Agreed that the "gas savings" pricing is a little misleading, but it is also misleading to base cost on supercharger pricing. If you are charging at home, then you are paying a fraction of the DC fast charger prices in most areas of the country. If you depend on DC fast charging as your only...
So basically Yellowstone is doable now if you stay in Gardiner. Otherwise it's wait and see. Hopefully something will develop in West Yellowstone, or Tesla will upgrade their supercharger to V3 or V4. Bozeman is way too far away to be realistically useful for Yellowstone.
New to Rivian, and sorry if this has been covered previously. Looking at the map, and multiple other sources, it appears Yellowstone is a fast charge desert for all but Tesla. Is there anyplace to charge in West Yellowstone or Gardiner that I am missing? Anyone know if there are any plans for...
Well over half are open to Rivian, about 16,000 out of 27,000. That basically means that superchargers represent the biggest network of chargers for Rivian today, especially when you take into account the uptime record of other networks. It's not all superchargers, but it is a substantial amount...
Understood. I was mostly reacting to an earlier claim by someone else that most Tesla drivers have CCS adapters. That is definitely not true, and very few actually need a CCS adapter because of lack of coverage by superchargers. My Rivian is great, but I will stand by my statement that the...
I think its a little overblown to compare needing an adapter for NACS with an adapter for CCS. I had a Tesla for five years and drove all the way from the northwest to south Florida and back two different times. Never needed a CCS adapter and never purchased one. Most Tesla drivers do not have a...
Coincidentally I am picking up almost a twin of your R1S at the same time in Seattle. Quad motor, large battery, Glacier White, Ocean Coast w/Dark Ash Wood, 21" wheels. My guide has informed me that the final contract will be sent via email after 3:00 PM today and needs to be signed by 6:00 PM...
Just a quick message to say hi. Just finished the purchase process for a QM R1S and awaiting scheduling for pickup. Also wanted to give a shoutout to Jon on Whidbey Island who kindly met us in Coupeville so that we could test drive his R1T before committing to purchase. Saved us a trip down to...
I would rather not drive down to Portland to test drive an R1S, and Washington is so beholden to scammy car dealers that Rivian cannot allow test drives in Seattle. So, looking for someone in the Port Townsend area, or at least somewhere on the Olympic Peninsula, that would offer to give me a...
