Hopefully the buttons are laid out in way that I don't have to look at the key fob to use it. With the current fob, it's impossible to tell if I'm even pressing a button or just pressing the Rivian logo on the backside of the fob. Makes it frustrating to use at night
My bad - looks like continuous run (where you don't specify an air pressure) automatically stops at 56, but you can set it to go to a higher pressure.
@Cycliste my point was that modern tires are probably fine - but I'm running 35's at like 50-55 psi on my all road bike.
If you are running...
I found that I could get consistent results with my mountain bike, but with the smaller volume all-road/gravel tires (35c) the compressor has trouble hitting exact psi, and sometimes overshoots.
Another issue with road tires is that the max target pressure you can set on the rivian compressor...
Any updates? Running into a similar issue, and am unable to enable the plate light (even when in towing mode).
Hoping someone has found a solution. If not, time to get the multimeter out
I wonder if there's a chance this changes. I doubt it though. They sold the vehicle with a certain EPA range. And I guess they need to do this to be compliant.
Super frustrating, as this is also a safety issue in the winter for me. All purpose is downright sketchy in the snow, because...
There are tons of people (like me) with no issues. We just dont post. With around 100,000 vehicles on the road now, there are going to be a lot of issues, and people with issues are way more likely to post.
Every once in a while theres a "leave a comment if you haven't had issues" post that...
For what its worth, rolling resistance impacts efficiency way more than the 11 pounds per corner. Thats 44 pounds total, which impacts efficiency at most the same as 88 pounds of non rotating mass (it depends how the weight is distributed, but thats the most it could matter, if all the extra...
@1stPlace here's what works well for me:
Enable camp mode, stay on, and turn off the auto temperature control.
If overnight temps are below ~40, set the fan to the lowest speed, set temperature to 80. Expect ~1% range drop per hour, and for the cabin to stay relatively warm. Ex on a ~15 degree...
Super cool project - I'm tempted to make something similar that mounts to the r1s tie down rails!
edit: although my favorite part of this is how it uses the locking ports. Such a clever design.
yep, agreed (is it actually 2/3? I would have guessed less just based on personal experience driving down hills)
but my overall point is that it doesn't matter as much as people say it does. Will type up a post with the math soon. It will be fun I promise
Okay so it takes more energy to spin the wheels up to speed? Agreed.
and when braking is involved, it takes more force to slow the car down? I'm following.
But if it's regenerative braking, you get diminished energy return?
?
The change in unsprung mass will make a difference to suspension performance, which may make the ride noticeably smoother, although I'm not convinced I would personally feel the difference.
I just doubt there will be a meaningful (>1%) difference in efficiency. I may come back to this and do...
People tend to think weight matters a lot for efficiency. It doesn't as much as people say, and whether it matters at all depends on the drive.
In stop and go traffic, weight does matter because when accelerating you have to get all that extra mass up to speed. Rotating mass matters extra...
Thanks @ATL_R1S! I've already seen that, as well as gotten measurements from some CAD files, and a couple sets of dimensions shared by various forum members that are supposedly from Rivian customer service. Unfortunately all the different numbers don't quite line up (ex the metric vs imperial...
@AirDownGearUp any chance you can share some of the measurements you took of the R1S? Mine is arriving in a couple weeks and I'm CAD'ing my platform now based on measurements I've gotten from a variety of sources. Getting your measurements would be super helpful, as I'm trying to take the car on...
@AirDownGearUp I'm very interested - I'm looking at building my own platform, and was actually looking at some of your youtube videos just yesterday as a source of inspiration. Just stumbled on this thread now - I'm contemplating removing the 3rd row seats.
If y'all had a platform + drawer...
