  1. Spare tire latch handle snaps . . . will I?

There is a thriving after market for replacement hood release levers, which ALL vehicle design engineers should be aware of. The rule should be this: If you design a lever actuated device and are considering what material to use, consider how much force would be needed to break it, then...
  2. Rivian May Be Much Closer to FSD Than You Think

Unsurprisingly, self driving cars is a very touchy subject which provokes a lot of strong feelings. I prefer to look at things like this as a comparison, so I consider this; how good does FSD need to be? Well, I'd say once it's significantly safer than 75% of 'typical' drivers, we are there...
  3. All Rivian tokens voided today

Thanks for this! I did manage to fix (for now..) the errant key card, which did 'appear' when my wife added it, but had not worked. The fix was both display and full reboots. Weirdly this had not worked after re-initializing my deleted account. The service dept. had promised a call back on that...
  4. All Rivian tokens voided today

Hi Robert, no explanation was given as to why my account was deleted, but since that had happened the day before I received notification that my account was deleted, I assumed the two were related. So my call to Rivian was to get this mess fixed, but so far I see problems worsening, in that my...
  5. All Rivian tokens voided today

After suspecting that deleted tokens caused my issue regarding my driver account being deleted (see above), now I'm wondering if something else is going on. After a call for service (soonest is 8 weeks away) and after getting my phone to open our R1T, I Now see that only one of our key cards...
  6. All Rivian tokens voided today

The keycard was on my person, but it was also unactivated... So unactivated that I had to call Rivian and request they reactivate it - because it's now totally DOA. There was no safety net in this case, because they deleted me AS A DRIVER!
  7. All Rivian tokens voided today

This morning I was locked out of our R1T Gen 2, by Rivian, presumably due to deleted tokens. I say this because this necessitated my wife (primary driver) to restore tokens, and then recreate my driver status. The crazy thing here is that I had been driving just yesterday evening, with my wife...
  8. Issues charging at home on 240v with the Portable charger

I've mentioned this before but saw nothing that suggested anyone read it, so here goes: the most critical aspects in a new electrical circuit installation include correct wire gauge, appropriate circuit protection, and "adequate connections". I'm not an electrician, but as a mechanical engineer...
  9. Mileage and battery life.

On a recent move, we used our Gen 2 R1T (dual/Max) towing a cargo trailer weighing 8,500 pounds from Cincinnati to Seattle (2,700 miles) we fully expected huge range reduction - but expected this to be primarily added wind drag. But what we found was that the actual battery temperature was...
  10. Electrafi issues - any experts who might have ideas?

I have an update: A tech from Electrafi instructed me on how to update our 'Home' location, which was kinda buried in 'Settings>home charging' so we are in the correct time zone now. The other issue is a different issue, I now suspect being the result of when we take ferry rides to the mainland...
  11. Electrafi issues - any experts who might have ideas?

Thanks Dark-Fx, you just gave me an idea (and a senior moment 😂 ).. I had looked for ideas on the Electrafi site but not noticed the support section, DUH! I'll log a ticket and report back on what I find. Thanks!
  12. Electrafi issues - any experts who might have ideas?

Hi fellow owners! I have a Gen 2 R1T and recently moved from Cincinnati to the Seattle area, and have been using Electrafi since last November and loving it. But since this move (a little over 2 weeks ago) my data has remained on the Cincinnati time zone, and I can't figure out how to fix that...
  13. What's your lowest mi/kWh efficiency?

We just drove from Cincinnati to Seattle towing a cargo trailer whose gross weight was 8,500 pounds. Good job we had the Max pack, because quite a few drives from charger to charger only got 140 miles, even driving 50 mph some of the time. Lowest average we got was 0.76 mi/kW for a segment, but...
  14. in car Nav Search issues

We are doing as @Mathme reported, using 'send' from a smartphone, so this is AFAIK something new in the 2025.18.30 update. We have a service appointment coming up, and have added this for them to look into. I'll report back after the June 26 appointment..
  15. Aftermarket Bed Extender for R1T?

Yet another very happy EV Sportline bed extender here! I have used it very extensively, deployed and removed frequently, love it!
  16. Engaging cruise control in stop and go traffic?

I use CC all the time for crawling in traffic, and all you have to do to get around the 20mph minimum to set is create a gap that lets you get to a tad more than 20, set it and there you have it.
  17. Is there a repository / summary of towing stats?

This is a great idea! I would suggest adding an idea of drag area in addition to weight of towed item, because drag area is actually a larger knock down. We just acquired an 8 X 16 foot cargo trailer which can gross out at 10,000 pounds, but also stands over 9 feet tall, so a big addition to...
  18. EVBASE RUNNING BOARDS RUSTING

I'd be curious what the cost increase might be to make these with a corrosion proof stainless steel. For the value added, I usually pay more for stuff that doesn't rust. For the same reason, it irks me that Rivian didn't use SS for the hitch too.
  19. TOWING: Hitch Receiver? What are you using? RIVIAN has the hitch receiver sunk an extra 2" deep because of that stupid bumper....

While there isn't anything fundamentally bad with a 'hidden' receiver (with that cover in place), there is a conundrum with a towball that must be overhung further out of the receiver itself... Until of course you design the vehicle to be very capable of towing 11,000 pounds. I would have...
  20. About tire pressures for non-stock tires

@Greg Chick, you are correct, vehicle weight is critical and what I tried to highlight in my post (which I don't think anyone seemed interested in...). Increasing tire pressure significantly above the recommended to the max stated on the tire is not a good idea. But then we see all kinds of...
