On a positive note, my R1S rb box arrived in great condition thanks to better packaging considering weight and length. Haven't opened to see if anything is missing etc.
I don't disagree with you that pricing is excessive but that's the Rivian tax. Nothing part wise is cheap on these vehicles. I would love to find aftermarket ones for $20-30 if they were available.
No clue on pricing, but if you had it on configuration before Rivian removed it, I think you would be able to get it at pre-March price.
I also suspect this will require mobile service install (spare tire tie down rod assembly may not be present in already delivered R1S and that part needs to...
There's been a redesign of the compact spare tire so that's probably the reason for the continued delay in shipping. Old design had a separate puck that you attach to the scissor jack. The newer design integrates this into the the jack which should make it safer and more dummy proof.
In the limited time of owning the S, I do notice distance between it and vehicle behind it is closer than on my other EV. Since I can't gently roll to a stop, my braking distance is shorter and the vehicle behind me also has a later reaction time to the high regen braking action. So I have to...
Generally, shipping wheels with tires, wrap them up in plastic wrap with foam and cardboard to protect the wheel facing part. I would protect both sides and add foam cushioning in the wheel well so the wrap doesn't get punctured and fall apart.
Ship each set separately. Pallet will cost you...
I have noticed frequent postings of rear end accidents. Curious if high regen braking and possibly late brake light coming on is a factor in these rear end collisions.
