I'm excited about the prospects and discussed Rivian with my broker months ago. While difficult for us little guys, he's going to try to get me in on the IPO. If not, I'll buy a few shares when it is publicly available.
This is great news! I'm excited to see a DCFC in the Show Low/Pinetop area! And more excited to be able to top off in Globe and take the scenic route through the Salt River Canyon to get there!
I had a CT reservation, but I let it go. New model roll outs for Tesla are notoriously problematic and their maintenance division is just overwhelmed (at least in the Phoenix Metro area).
I don't know why I think the Rivian will come out any better, but here I go...
I'm not concerned about around town. I only charged my MS (when I had it) in town once and that was to experience the Tesla SuperCharger. It's the longer drives that I worry about. We drive from a suburb of Phoenix in my MX to Disneyland a couple times a year and SW Colorado and the Tesla charge...
I'm thinking I will wait for the 400+ mile variant only to give me flexibility with the CCS charging network. It's very immature compared to the Tesla network.
If Rivian was tied into the Tesla charging network I would jump on the 300+ mile model.
I get it, but I'm more concerned with the everyday interactions of exhaust and fumes. I'm probably just prissy (not that there's anything wrong with it!) and a touch short-sighted.
Regardless, I'm all electric and can't wait to configure an R1T!
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'm more concerned with/by the other toxins that are bi-products of the creation and use of fossil fuels than I am about CO2. Still environmental, but a slightly different concern.
