  1. RJ shows R2 in e-coat!

Yes, seems too low for a charge port location.
  2. 2023 R1T Quad, trip down the Oregon Coast Towing Airstream Basecamp

I have one of those as well and it is very useful.. Thanks for your post and glad to hear you are still camping; that’s a nice looking setup and looks like it meets your needs.
  3. Vancouver Rivian Space Closed?

I went to the Vancouver show today. The R2 and R3 were not there. I was told that they were “damaged in transit” and could not be shown. Very disappointed to miss them!
  4. First Rivian Police Cruiser (Palo Alto) ?

Yes, that video was filmed while the car was traveling northbound on the 280 between Palo Alto and San Mateo. Happy to see the first Rivian police vehicle. Long term it should save that department money compared to a big ICE Car.
  5. RJ Demonstrates Autonomous Hands-Free Driving Aids

I have not closely followed Rivian’s driver assistance capabilities over the years, but reading this thread it seems some people believe that the company is still using MobilEye and it remains part of the new Enhanced Highway Assist package just introduced. Is their proof for that belief...
  6. "A mirage take shape Feb 19" - Rivian teasers [for new California Dune color?]

Just received the email from Rivian giving details on the new California Dune Tri-Motor edition: See https://rivian.com/dune
  7. "A mirage take shape Feb 19" - Rivian teasers [for new California Dune color?]

(Not a Rivian owner, yet) I thought that the Rivian in-car nav showing charging stations would only show Superchargers that are compatible so the driver won’t try to navigate to a non-compatible station? Of course that assumes the driver is, you know, thinking…
  8. Spotted: Lidar testing using Gen1 Rivian

It has a manufacturers plate. It is a Rivian vehicle. And it is probably mapping the road, not testing lidar with the idea of at some point adding lidar to the production line.
  9. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Hmm… AMCI drove one Tesla 1,000 miles and this is their conclusion, QUOTE: That is not an analysis of Tesla’s internal data.
  10. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Incorrect. This afternoon I drove my friends new (3 weeks old, he just replaced his 2023 Y which he gave to his daughter) Model Y with V13.2. I’ve driven it multiple times over the past year, this is the first time with 13.2 and I specifically tried to get it to start on FSD in parking lots or...
  11. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

That Tesla report is 3 years old so it is completely out of date and Tesla has never made their data available to outside researchers. The current FSD software is very different and for years now Tesla has not released their data.
  12. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Please provide sources to data provided by Tesla* to prove your assertion. *HInt: there isn’t any.
  13. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Tesla refuses to release their internal data on current FSD accident rates so your statement is not supported by any facts. See https://electrek.co/2025/01/13/elon-musk-misrepresents-data-that-shows-tesla-is-still-years-away-from-unsupervised-self-driving/ For FSD we do not know what is the...
  14. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

I don’t see the utility of that feature. People who don’t own a Rivian are highly unlikely to know what that special color indicates, and probably many Rivian owners won’t even recognize it. And what purpose does it serve? If someone does recognize the color and understand what it means, is...
  15. Report: NACS adapters will stop being free for new Rivian purchases starting later this month - per RivianTrackr

I’ve owned Teslas since 2013 and have met many owners, very few of whom have a CCS adapter. I own one (3rd party, not Tesla) and used it once in Port Alberni (Vancouver Island, Canada) two years ago but this year when I was passing through while towing my trailer there was a new Supercharger...
  16. Towing Report: Airstream Pottery Barn >> R1S Gen 1 (First Tow)

Definitely cheaper :) but at 21 ft the Polydrop P21 really should have a fully enclosed functional bathroom. The Safari Condo Alto F1743 at just 17 ft has a nice enclosed bathroom space with a normal toilet and shower, optional sink in the bathroom, and a real 3.1 cu ft fridge.
  17. Towing Report: Airstream Pottery Barn >> R1S Gen 1 (First Tow)

The Bowles is in my opinion the most aerodynamic RV trailer available, and relatively light weight as well. See https://bowlus.com/rivet/
  18. Towing Report: Airstream Pottery Barn >> R1S Gen 1 (First Tow)

Thanks for your towing report. What was your average speed during that trip? Yes, the headwinds on I10 when going west through Cabazon/Banning/Beaumont can be significant and really increase energy usage so that should be taken into consideration when evaluating your trip stats.
