RJ has mentioned before in interviews that Rivian's goal is to not necessarily to convert existing EV owners, but rather ICE truck owners to get their first EV. I know they have their own internal data on what people are migrating from, but I'd love to know the breakdown of the RivianForums...
I'm curious if anyone has tried the Bamacar Naturnest with the Rivian Cargo Crossbars. Looks like a good entry level model to try out truck camping like this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CBJZ4F87/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1O1XK7VEWTQT9&psc=1
I just had mine rotated/balanced again at Discount Tire and they didn't charge me at all. At 13,275 miles after 7 months, tire tech said he would rate the tires at an 8 out of 10 at the moment. Unless our driving habits radically change I hope we can get 30K miles out of the OEM Pirelli 22s.
@bd5400 Yeah, I’m very curious to see how the next update improves things. The first 20 minutes of driving over the past month or so has been crummy efficiency, but it improves after that.
I was going to ask how you managed to charge back up to 100% over night, but it looks like you have a decent charger at your property?
We're heading up to Door County for the holidays to visit the in-laws and we're planning on charging in Appleton both on the way up and the way back. There's...
Lexus of Brookfield has a a blue R1S with less than 300 miles on it available (caught our eye when we were at the stoplight). https://www.lexusofbrookfield.com/used-inventory/index.htm?search=Rivian&saveFacetState=true&normalFuelType=&lastFacetInteracted=
Hmm, looks like they might not offer those anymore? At least I can't seem to find them.
EDIT: Found ‘em! https://abstractocean.com/products/truck-bed-vinyl-decal-for-rivian-r1t?variant=42355272122541
I also had mine rotated at Discount Tire. It cost $62 for rotation/balance. I think we were around 6500 miles at that time (I need to go back and check, I can't see that info on their website though I think I got a print out about it). We're coming up on 11,000 miles so it's probably time to...
@bd5400 What type of Road America events have you taken your Rivian to? Their Track Days? Or some other type of event? https://www.roadamerica.com/track-days
@Rivifan In my own experience on county highways vs the interstate 55-60 mph is much better for efficiency than 70-75 mph. I feel like going too slow on the interstate isn't particularly safe, though. People driving 30 mph faster is a terrifying experience.
Had my first "oh sh*t, we're going to run out of charge" experience yesterday coming back home from visiting my folks up near Wausau. We charged at the Electrify America station in Schofield, had about 20-30 extra miles of range (beyond the 176 we needed to get home) on the guess-o-meter when...
@mrodriguez I think that would be your best bet. Looks like it's roughly 150 miles from EA charger to Minocqua, so that should leave you enough to drive around in the area without too much range anxiety.
When I did a summer trip up to Tomahawk (before the EA station was open) we charged up at...
I like the idea of doing the T.W.A.T, our R1T has the 22s so I need to look into something beefier if I wanted to do anything more difficult than that.
So I haven't done any offroading before (the old Ford Fusion probably wouldn't have handled it too well) but I did look into this a bit after getting the R1T. There's this off road park in Tigerton - https://www.tigertonwi.com/campground-atv-park
Also, the 7 Hour Plane Crash Trail might be...
