So funny to see all the comments on this, although I suppose I'm just as guilty. In any event I would say it is pretty on-brand for the CEO of a company focused on adventure messaging associated with its products to actually dress in attire that would also fit that positioning. Not that it seems...
I agree with your previous preferences and suspect that range is likely to have more to do with where I drive, how I drive, i.e. light foot versus heavy foot, anticipation of traffic behavior/efficient regen and at what speed I drive. So if I get an opportunity for the LE then it will be 20"...
It does for the R2 Performance when you select the different wheel option icons on the "Explore the lineup" graphic - 307 miles for 20" Black Sand All-Terrain 330 miles for 21" Liquid Tungsten All-Season.
If grab handles were included then it seems likely they would be in the animated renders on the website by this point. No reason why they wouldn't be, Rivian aren't starved for marketing resources to correct the animation if it needed it and the image includes plenty of other much smaller...
Do we know for sure that the Rivian version of the BFG is actually 3PMSF rated? I've looked at images from Rivian events and couldn't see the mark on the tire wall.
Additionally, while the BFG website states "The BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A tire is severe snow rated with a three-peak mountain...
Its a bit deceptive to me. The classic SUV styling plus wheelbase plus height/ground clearance make it seem larger than it is IMO. It actually sits between a RAV4 and Honda Passport Trailsport.
Well it was a bit of a cheeky last minute request but thanks for entertaining the idea, I'm sure all the detailed measurements will emerge in time and probably long before many of us have the opportunity to buy one. I am hoping to see the R2 at the May Block Party in Palo Alto, on the Friday to...
Matt from CarWow described his driving impressions in a R2 with AT tires, both on a winding canyon road and freeway. On the freeway he said he couldn't hear any road noise and also stated the R2 has acoustic glass for the drivers (and presumably passengers) window and the windscreen.
You asked so ... take a tape measure :) and measure the following
Step in height, ground to the top of door sill. Relevant for those who may have difficulty stepping up into the R2
Depth of trunk from tail gate sill to the back of the rear seat and again to the back of the front seat, assuming...
I could fit 10 foot fencing lumber in my Audi A6 with the trunk lid closed ... although it was well over 20 years old when I first did that. Needed to recline the front passenger seat far enough back so it rested on the rear seat for support and to get the lumber laying closer to flat. I'd hire...
Well the good thing is you can drop the rear window for some access into the trunk space :)
For reference in case it helps at all. Yesterday I rented a 2025 Rav4 for the last ski trip of the season and the fully open rear hatch on that cleared my open garage door fitted in a 7 foot high...
The context seems like it may be different for R2 because of pent up demand. Rivian have guided to ~25k R2 for 2026, my optimistic estimate is that they could sell up to 37k if the ramp goes well. Either way that's not a lot of vehicles for this vehicle class and other competitors like BMW iX3...
I don't know why people assume the LIDAR/RAP1 processor integration will raise the prices.
It shouldn't be because of the component cost because Rivian/RJ has said that the RAP1 platform is several hundred dollars less costly than the nVidia platform they currently use. He has also said that...
Good review and nice graphic. I've attached the detailed European iX3 50 specs from BMW's Media Information in Sept 2025, which I don't recall having seen posted here. Presumably nothing has changed since and US variants will be similar. It would be nice if Rivian posted such a detailed list.
The main observation which seems to be overlooked in responses to my point is why the focus on UK specific media? The other not insignificant factor is the relative stability and level of tariffs into the UK vs EU, an issue that could flare up again and is challenging to manage for. Don't focus...
That bold part is interesting. I wasn't aware Rivian were taking reservations for demo drives on R2. Not that it makes much difference to me since I'm a Jan 2025 reservation with no R1 ownership to expedite a purchase.
Are they defaulting on their commitment if they deliver customer vehicles in June? Seems like they have so few SKUs they can just build for inventory in Launch Green with Black Crater Signature interior and not need to wait for a customer configuration, because what would be left to configure...
