  1. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Confirms what I’ve been saying. Rivian basically designed the R1S by just putting a truck cap and 2-seat bench onto the R1T. Absolutely no thought into creating a proper HVAC for anyone but the first two seats. A portable handheld fan is probably better than the car fan for passengers in the...
  2. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Easy to test that by just turning on and off the third row vents and see what that intake vent does.
  3. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Ah, I see. That is just terrible engineering. So, the third row is basically getting hot air in the summer and cold air in the winter. C’mon Rivian.
  4. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Are we sure the intake for the 3rd row vents is in the cargo area? That would be the most unintelligent place to design the intake. You are literally just recirculating the stale air back there then. This horrible HVAC system just keeps on sounding worse as we learn more about it.
  5. Warranty issues post running board install?

I considered but one thing I'm concerned about is if there were to ever be corrosion issues underneath years from now while still under warranty. They will certainly deny warranty then. I've already seen corrosion issues with the stock hardware during panel removal from install pictures by others.
  6. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Would be nice to get it serviced. However, non-critical appointment wait times are 3-4 months out at both service centers near me.
  7. More 12V Problems - Always Keep Your R1T Plugged

Don’t do it?? WTF?? Okay, so we should make sure to plug in our Rivians when we’re out in the middle of nowhere camping? I’m sure I’ll find a 120V or 240V outlet in the woods.
  8. R1S second row seats are laughably hard to manipulate

Yup. Not an exaggeration when I say these are the worst second-row seats of any 3-row vehicle I’ve ever sat in. It’s an adventure climbing in and out of the second row (without running steps) and then having to manipulate those second row seats.
  9. CyberTruck in F150 wrap, Frunk looks small

True, the frunk appears it may be small. However, with the front drive all the way forward like this, I bet the interior cabin space will be large. Maybe more spacious than R1T and Lightning. The flat load frunk that Ford started is enviable. Why the hell is Rivian the only EV truck without the...
  10. “New” Quad Motor R1T pricing is crazy and not sustainable (even if Cybertruck priced higher than original reveal price estimate)

Please tell that to all the home sellers in my area. Home sales are still robust even though average prices are only down about 10% from the peak when mortgage rates were 2.5%.
  11. Want to buy: wristband key

It seems like whether service centers sell parts or certain items like the wristband is all up to the individual who is creating your order. People have mentioned buying certain things. However, the guy at the service center desk during my visit in a NorCal location would not sell me anything...
  12. R1S on 22" Sport Dark wheels - 2k Mile Review

I have the newer Rivian sound system and I don’t understand how someone can say that the Rivian sound system is great. It really is one of the worst sounding car audio setup I’ve been in at this price range of $100K luxury cars. It lacks pretty much the entire frequency soundstage besides the...
  13. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

It’d be interesting to see a comparison of the number of chargers besides the number of stations. I don’t know how many chargers per station Tesla was installing early on, but there’s a huge delta nowadays between Tesla and every other company, including Rivian.
  14. Costa mesa Service center is getting so booked up.

2 months is nothing. Psshh I’m in NorCal and recently took delivery, and the first available service appointment for non-critical work was October. I can’t imagine what the wait will be like when Rivian reaches their goal to double the number of cars sold by the end of this year. They’re...
  15. R1S cabin temperature just too hot for Florida

My problems with the A/C in the R1S are: compressor seems to be underpowered for this size vehicle and very loud it condenses like crazy. Always have a river flowing underneath every time I have the A/C while parked for over 5 minutes in a hot day there are no pillar vents in the second row...
  16. Tint recommendation in SF Bay Area (South Bay)?

Schedule a service appt to check the level of coolant. It’s a known issue by Rivian that some vehicles left the factory with either too little or too much, hindering the potential of the A/C. If that level is okay, then it’s just the compressor that is too weak, which is also well documented...
  17. Is +20% Range worth +10% Cost and shift from Quad to Dual?

W But, the increase in range for Dual models partly comes from the car automatically going into FWD conserve mode on and off as necessary to conserve range. On the quad config, you have to manually select conserve and so was not factored into its EPA rating. If you use conserve with the quad...
  18. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Rivian says “within spec”. Also “within spec” is some people feeling the vibration of the windshield wiper motor through the accelerator pedal. What I want from Rivian regarding the HVAC is vents on the B pillar for the second row passengers. Those tiny vents in the back of the center console...
  19. First Dual Motor R1T appears in R1 Shop!

No, doesn’t make sense. There’s already little demand for the quad R1T with the dual motors coming out. Increase the price and no one is going to buy quad.
  20. First Dual Motor R1T appears in R1 Shop!

But, the dual doesn’t get THAT much better range than the quad. Plus, on conserve, it’s practically the same efficiency.
