Tesla has had two communication protocols they used on their superchargers, and this is the problem here. The original superchargers used the "Tesla only" protocol, and newer superchargers speak both "Tesla only" and the CCS protocol (this is separate from the plug format). Our rivians only...
I find this racehorse number counting fun, and I enjoy searching the internet for numbers. Skip if you don't care about that.
Edit - autonews was March numbers, not April. But trends didn't change. Sorry for the mistake.
We have: Electrek April reg, autonews March reg, Coxnews Q1 sales.
But...
Did Tesla increase ct production after q1?They must have. Found this report that lists out results for all 3 trucks here, q1. https://www.coxautoinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Q1-2024-Kelley-Blue-Book-Electric-Vehicle-Sales-Report.pdf, q1.

I read the thread and I didn't see if you had tried to plug in directly to a Tesla magic dock supercharger. That's the one that comes with an adapter for CCS cars. It very likely uses your default payment system, it's plug and charge, you plug the charger in to your rivian and rivian talks to...
Anec-data is the worst data but ... On my 10 year old Tesla with 85k miles, I lost .0808% per year on avg. First 5 years I lost 12 miles / 272, second 5 years lost about 10 miles. I was thinking that 1% a year was really high but I lost almost that amount. It seemed to go in chunks though, not a...
I think the smart people will want to get a reverse CCS to Tesla adapter. Once Rivians have NACS. The reasoning is more chargers is more opportunity to charge, Tesla's today can charge with an adapter because they support the CCS protocol, I'd want that too if I had an NACS Rivian.
There are lots of people reviewing, talking to the companies, charging and testing them, measuring heat, interviewing engineers and execs at the adapter makers.
Look at the "state of charge" podcast on YouTube.
I think the slow rollout of the official Tesla adapters through Ford (and the likely even slower rollout from Rivian, because it's behind Ford) is going to lead to a huge number of people buying the adapters. The delay will lead to pressure from people wanting to use superchargers. There will...
This is good for Rivian, bad for the EV industry. I hope they let this continue to exist as a standalone service. ABRP seemed to be the best routing system, basically as good as the system in my tesla when I listed long routes. Rivian should make this available for other cars, but put nice...
I have a cabin in the woods on a paved state highway in Washington. Last year they "chipped it", it added stupid unneeded gravel with oil. It took a couple of months before those rocks went away. I got hit 3 times. I'm glad I didn't get it immediately fixed. I had two thoughts without any...
I reluctantly agree with you that the Waypoint chargers aren't going to be helpful for Rivian, because they'll be in use by the vast world. I want to increase chargers to all, I have another evn than a rivian too. But we unfortunately know from some of the earlier waypoint charger installs that...
There is a plan to add ev chargers along the White Pass Scenic Byway this year, including the ski area. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/8-new-charging-stations-white-pass-scenic-byway.17378/
This is my favorite story on the site. I've heard about the area before but you put up great pics. I love exploring those vast empty area, the desert southwest is another place I'd like to visit again.
I wonder where the 15 amp 120 v dc/ac converter is? Probably the frunk. It's just hardware, what if you replaced it with a 220v higher amp converter? You cant just change things out because of warranties but also because you can't change the software that must control that. If it was in the...
Thanks for keeping this up to date! The Washington State ones look like they are mostly copying where tesla superchargers are. I want them off road much more. We don't need another charger in leavenworth, ritzville, Bellevue, Chelan, Ellensburg. We need RAN stations where there isn't other...
Other RAN stations appear to be ready, just waiting on software for the ran to be ready or something. This says Colorado station ready and rumored to maybe launch June 30 https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/rivian-charging-station-in-salida-co-is-under-construction.1471/page-8
That sounds good. When I look at the giant map of hopes and dreams of future RAN chargers, I just want to see the very few real chargers. Since there aren't any operating afaict, I'd like a smaller map with the few finished RAN (like the Colorado RAN charger that isn't in service for some...
