  1. Article: How do I get free Rivian-approved NACS DC adapter? Shipping in April!

Doubtful Rivian has the power to make this decision. We know Tesla has control over who can use their network. I'm sure it's written into this agreement that Tesla has final say on any 3rd party adapter approval.
  2. Does rear of the R3 comply with DOT regulation?

I agree, not a fan of blinkers down that low. Maybe they'll be creative with the light bar and assign some pixels on the ends to work as a more visible main blinker in addition to the lowers. I'm sure we will see some changes before it launches years from now.
  3. Does rear of the R3 comply with DOT regulation?

The turn signals and running lights also need to be visible from the side. I think they have all this covered. The small bar at the bottom rear holds the reverse and non-moveable brake lights. Above that looks to be a light bar that wraps around the side of the vehicle to be used for turn signals.
  4. Quad Motor Departure

Quad will stay around. They will phase out the Bosch with an in house design that has more HP and costs less per unit. Probably keep the MSRP same or higher due to HP increase. I don't really see a place in the r1 line for a tri-motor unless quad price goes up significantly. Too many other...
  5. Tesla engineer urges Rivian to move charge port location on R2, R3, R3X for Supercharger access

EV manufacturers should have the design freedom to put the charge ports wherever they feel is right for their design and customers. Charging stalls that service multiple brands need to be able to accommodate any EV that pulls up. Tesla knows this hence the taller V4 hardware with longer cables...
  6. Broken Charger Retaining Clip

So long as its a J1772 cable that is rated for a 48amp EVSE you should be able to use it. Rivian EVSE uses a single orange control signal wire. I don't have a Rivian EVSE to take apart and verify so if there is a special connector on the end you may have to splice it in to the old one. I...
  7. Broken Charger Retaining Clip

One of the small pins in the j1772 connector is called the proximity pin and is in series with the handle switch. This pin is shorter than the AC connectors so it will disengage before the AC pins as the plug is pulled from the car. It's supposed to tell the car and EVSE to stop charging before...
  8. Ford NACS Adapter Released + Access to Tesla Superchargers Now Available

This. There is too much uncertainty at the moment about Tesla's adapter requirements or what barriers they may put up to prevent charging with unapproved devices. I'll wait for an approved adapter to be provided by rivian.
  9. Amping down for a wall outlet is capped at 14 Amps?

Rivian's supplied adapter for 120v outlets is designed for a 15amp circuit. You can plug it into a 20A 120v outlet but it will treat it as a 15A circuit. It should only pull 12 amps nominal.
  10. Manual Tonneau Cover on Back Order

Just following up, I received my manual tonneau on Jan 30th after waiting >1yr. No issues with shipping damage, very happy with it so far.
  11. Leviton announces 50A EV charging receptacle

This will be a good thing. It's not a simple matter these days to run out to a store to get a Hubbell outlet. If this option is readily available at box stores or online it would make it easier for people to make a good decision vs making something work fast.
  12. Manual Tonneau Cover on Back Order

Still waiting on mine, purchased with the truck a year ago. I check in every month with my guide to see if there's any update.
  13. Coast Mode/Regen Brakes Make Me Car Sick

Manual transmission ICE, mopeds, golf cart, some riding mowers, etc... many places to get a taste of one pedal driving without even stepping in an ev. My wife can't drive manual but had no problem picking up regen braking in one session. Just takes time to get the smooth driving part mastered...
  14. my R1S charging nightmare

No particular reason. L1 would be good for flexibility so I'd welcome it as an option. Although at L1 amperage it might take a full day to get enough to boot up the system. /s
  15. my R1S charging nightmare

This may have been avoidable and not a "true nightmare" for the OP, but this is definitely an issue Rivian should resolve. Rj has stated a large portion of R1 customers are new to EVs and new EV owners aren't always going to make the best decisions. If you run out of gas in an ICE you can...
  16. Anyone else have this window issue?

I don't have that issue but I did have wind noise coming from the triangle window seal. Recently had a tech replace the triangle window assembly which includes the leading edge window guide that lives inside the door. Maybe you have an alignment issue with that guide which is pushing the...
  17. 'Internal rumors' from my mobile service tech (800V, LFP, new quad motor variant & more!)

Its already priced in the high end of the market they are targeting, I think the new quad will just take over where the old quad left off. Most of these improvements will reduce the material cost to make each vehicle, especially removal of the Bosch supplied motors. It's a slap in the face to...
  18. Anyone still waiting for manual tonneau cover ?

Been waiting since last December as well. Haven't heard of any updates since they sent out communication a few months ago on redesigning the packaging to prevent damage in transit.
  19. Closing charge port door is a pain -- Am I missing something?

Just leave it plugged in until your next drive. Unless there's an undisclosed reason you need to unplug it.
  20. Halloween theme...is it already available?

Agree, the organ is too cringy for me. Much prefer the more natural sounds that blend into the environment. I disabled Halloween mode already, but cool that its an option for those who like it. I would like my RGB lights unlocked now, thanks!
