Another update: I'm told that after replacing my front drive unit, they discovered "additional concerns" and are replacing both front outer tie rod ends (I'm not a car person and don't really know what that means...). This is in addition to them replacing my (big) battery and tailgate latch last...
Good luck! Hope it's a quick turnaround! I haven't been too frustrated with my lengthy repair since I've had a Rivian loaner, but obviously your situation is different.
Hate to be pessimistic, but I would plan on it being longer than a few days. My truck is still at the service center; it will have been there at least 4 weeks by the time they finish. It's possible that you might be faster than me, since they also had to repair damage caused by the tow truck...
Not a bad idea. I keep telling myself that I'm just getting *really* unlucky, that this isn't the normal Rivian experience. My wife may not trust the Rivian enough for us to drive it anywhere if this continues, though.
Another update: My R1T is still being fixed, and they were expecting it to be done late today or tomorrow. I truly cannot believe this, but I was driving home from work yesterday in a R1S loaner, and I got hit with the motor fault error at the exact same spot on the highway as the previous two...
Update: Truck was towed to MH service center on Thursday. They started looking at it Friday. Just talked to them, and they are replacing the front drive unit (two front motors).
I'm disappointed I'm likely in my rental ICE another 7-10 days, but I'm really glad they think they identified the...
Thanks for thinking to take pictures. I may use them when I talk to the service center. I was so focused on calling roadside assistance and restarting so I could get off the shoulder of the highway that I didn't stop to take pictures either time it happened.
Edit: Not sure if it matters for...
Yes, I'm having this issue as well (southeast MI; has been 0-10 F the past few days). Both Monday and Tuesday, I got hit with this error driving home from work (not plugged in at work).
I posted more details of my experience so far in a separate thread...
I'm having this issue too. I posted the details in a different thread last evening: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/motor-failure-message.38637/page-2#post-709262
Rivian roadside assistance assured me it's not because of the cold weather, but I highly doubt that. Because it's...
I'm dealing with this right now too. Yesterday, driving home from work on the highway received this error and pulled to the side of the highway. As I was on the phone with Rivian roadside assistance, I noticed the error had cleared after being in park. Decided to try to drive home. Made it...
Interesting! Might be worth a shot trying your gen2 tires. I wasn't sure whether I was going to get winters, but after the snowfall we had in early/mid November, I pulled the trigger. When we had a much bigger snowfall in early December, I was driving around other stuck vehicles with ease lol.
Granted, I have the Pirelli 22" sport tires so not apples to apples, but the Michelin X-Ice winter tires I put on last winter made a WORLD of difference. I was sliding around too much in a couple inches of snow with the sport tires; I never slid again with the X-Ice despite tons of snow and ice.
UPDATE: Another huge divot was created yesterday (picture). I sent it to the owner of the company who did the work, and he wondered if it has to do with the brakes on the truck. I am skeptical of this. Does this make sense to anyone? I have regen on high, so I rarely use the brake pedal in my...
