Similar situation to many here. Mid 2021 order.
Drawn to Rivian for the third row. Never want to drive an ICE again. Really dislike the falcon doors on the Model X. By the time my 2023 delivery window rolls around there will likely be more options.
However, couldn’t wait that long so I...
ACC and lane keep assist are not all created equal. My Honda kinda sucks at the lane keeping. With Autopilot I had full confidence to take my eyes off the road on the highway (even though they say not to.) Driver+ will probably be better than Highway Autopilot. It’s not claimed to be the same...
It’s been awhile since I’ve driven a Tesla (sold my Model S in 2018), but I’m struck how similar the display is to my recollection. I loved the UI and tech in my Tesla, so have no concerns about Rivian since they poached so many engineers.
Finally got my invite. R1S May 2021 reservation; makes sense I wasn’t given an earlier invite.
Bummed that all Saturdays and Sundays are unavailable. Booked a Friday afternoon slot… traffic will be horrible driving up from the Pasadena area, so I may or may not end up going. Maybe I can ask in...
Can you imagine if it priced at the top of the initial estimate? Though now that I’ve gotten a 25% return on my investment after one day, the question becomes how much to leave long term and how much profit to walk away with right now. I will probably liquidate about 20% of my initial investment...
I used to have a Model S and now drive a Clarity BEV. Living in SoCal, I frequently would show up to full Superchargers. Being locked to one fast charge option (Tesla) was really frustrating. Now I’m never road tripping in the Clarity (80 mile range) but between EA, EVGo, and ChargePoint, I’ve...
Modified AGI. Consult your tax accountant (or Google). Keep in mind it’s “the lesser of” the past two years so if your MAGI changed significantly, you may not be out of luck
That’s a fair point. Forgot that max pack is going to be an option on the R1T. (I’m buying an R1S so not thinking about the truck.) Maybe Rivian will do like Tesla and sell a software limited version to drop the MSRP, then sell you an after market OTA option to unlock the rest of the capacity.
Transferability is also a huge development. If Rivian chooses, they can take the tax break and pass it to the customer at point of sale as a credit.
(Not sure if this had been discussed elsewhere.)
$80k limit is an outstanding change. I don’t think it limits Rivian options unrealistically. Even with R1S, Adventure Package, $2500 paint, off road package, that’s exactly $80k. Now, maybe you also want forest edge interior? In that case just get white paint and paint the car yourself later...
